    As the warm spring weather approaches, Alberta Agriculture is reminding farmers not to allow their chickens to mix with water fowl and risk exposing them to avian flu.

    "Keep domestic flocks under cover by housing them indoors or in covered pens," said assistant chief provincial veterinarian Dr. Gerald Hauer.
    Bird flu can be spread through the nasal and eye secretions of infected birds, as well as through exposure to feces.
