    Saskatchewan sets another COVID-19 hospitalization record

    For the third straight day, Saskatchewan has set a new hospitalization record for COVID-19 patients.

    The province reported Tuesday that 340 people were in hospital due to COVID-19, an increase of 15 patients from the previous day.

    Of those in hospital, 73 patients were being treated in intensive care.

    Officials said 259 patients — 76 per cent — were not fully vaccinated.

    The province also reported 10 new COVID-19-related deaths on Tuesday, bringing the death total to 726.

    For the first time in nearly a month, the number of daily new cases was below 300.

    Officials reported 242 new cases on Tuesday. The last time fewer than 300 cases were reported was on Sept. 9, with 289.

    It is also the lowest daily case count since Aug. 30 when 200 new cases were reported...

      REGINA -- Saskatchewan reached new highs for hospitalizations on Wednesday, with a record 356 patients receiving care due to COVID-19.

      Hospitalizations rose by 16 between Tuesday and Wednesday. There are now 76 people in intensive care related to the disease.

      The Government of Saskatchewan also reported 478 new COVID-19 cases and seven more deaths on Wednesday. The province has recorded 733 total deaths related to COVID-19.

      Of the new cases, 362 are in unvaccinated people, while 27 are partially vaccinated and 89 are fully vaccinated. Among the unvaccinated, 99 are children in the 0-11 age group. Kids under 12 are not currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine...

      ... There are currently 4,313 COVID-19 cases considered active in Saskatchewan. Saskatoon continues to lead the province with 1,093 active COVID-19 cases, with Regina in second with 618.

      Saskatchewan’s seven-day average of daily new cases is 439, or 36.4 new cases per 100,000 population...

        New COVID-19 records set in Saskatchewan for cases, ICU patients

        New daily records were set in Saskatchewan for COVID-19 cases and the number of patients in intensive care.

        The province reported 650 new cases on Thursday, breaking the previous one-day high of 602 set on Sept. 30.

        However, a note from the government said 241 of the confirmed cases date back to Sept. 22 and had previously not been entered in the provincial database...

        ...Health officials reported 348 people were being treated in hospital for COVID-19, 78 of whom were in intensive care. It breaks the previous high of 76 ICU patients set the previous day.

        Of those people in hospital, officials said 76.4 per cent were not fully vaccinated.

        The province said there were four COVID-19-related deaths, raising the death toll to 737...

          Saskatchewan reported 502 new cases of COVID-19 and five deaths on Saturday.

          Of the new cases, 410, or 81 per cent, are unvaccinated people. Another 14 are partially vaccinated and 78 are fully vaccinated.

          As of Saturday, the province said there is 332 people in hospital related to COVID-19, including 78 patients in intensive care...

          ... A total of 4,798 cases are currently considered active.

          The province’s seven-day average of daily new cases is 464, or 38.5 per 100,000 population...

            Highest COVID-19 ICU patients to date as Saskatchewan adds 2 deaths

            The number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care units (ICUs) reached new heights as Saskatchewan added two deaths on Tuesday.

            Hospitals in the province are currently providing care for 348 patients with COVID-19: 268 are receiving inpatient care and 80 are in ICUs.

            The two recently deceased who tested positive for the virus include one person in the 80-plus age group and the other was in the 40 to 59 age group. There have now been 753 COVID-19-related deaths in the province.

            According to the Saskatchewan government’s dashboard, there were 271 new cases, bringing the overall infection total in Saskatchewan to 72,730. The seven-day average of new daily infections increased to 487 from 483 on Monday...

              Saskatchewan health officials reported 315 new COVID-19 cases and five more deaths related to the virus Thursday.

              According to the province's online dashboard, three people in their 80s have died of COVID-19, along with a person each in the 40-to-59 and 60-to-79 age categories. There were two deaths in Regina, and one each in the southeast, south central and east central regions.

              The Saskatoon zone is holding steady as the hot spot in the province with 72 new cases, bringing the region's active case count up to 1,036. That's almost double the active number in the Regina area, which now sits at 540 after adding 29 new cases Thursday...

              ...As of Thursday, there are 335 people hospitalized with the virus in Saskatchewan, 75 of whom are in intensive care units.

              The Saskatoon region currently has the most COVID-19 patients, with 101 receiving inpatient care and 36 in ICUs.

              Of those in hospital, nearly 75 per cent are not fully vaccinated, according to the province. ..

                Saskatchewan health officials reported Friday that four more people have died and there are 339 people in hospital with COVID-19.

                The death toll since the pandemic started is now at 773.

                The number of ICU cases, 78, is just two less than the record set earlier this week.

                The latest statistics indicate just over three-quarters of the people in hospital with the disease are not fully vaccinated.

                  Saskatchewan set another grim record on Saturday with 81 patients with COVID-19 reported to be in ICUs in the province.

                  The record was previously set on Oct. 12 when 80 COVID-19 patients were in ICU.

                  There are 246 patients with COVID-19 receiving in-patient care in hospitals across Saskatchewan.

                  Of the 327 patients in hospitals, 256 or 74.9 per cent were not fully vaccinated.

                  Officials reported 411 new cases on Saturday with the most reported in Saskatoon (98), followed by the north central zone (58), and the north west zone (51)

                  Of the new cases reported Saturday, 123 or 29.9 per cent of the individuals are aged 11 and under...

                    COVID-19: Saskatchewan sets new ICU record for second day in a row

                    One day after breaking the record for ICU patients with COVID-19, Saskatchewan has set another one with 84 patients admitted.

                    There are an additional 249 people in hospital with COVID-19 receiving in-patient care.

                    Of the 333 total COVID-19 patients in hospital, 251 or 75.4 per cent were not fully vaccinated.

                    Five more residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have since died, the province also reported Sunday.

                    The province’s COVID-19 death toll is now 781.

                    Officials also reported 320 new cases in Saskatchewan on Sunday.

                    The seven-day average of daily new cases is 340 or 28.2 per 100,000 people...

                      REGINA -

                      The Saskatchewan government reported 279 new COVID-19 infections on Monday, along with four additional deaths.

                      One person who died was in the 40-59 age range, one was age 60-79 and two were in the 80+ age group. The four deaths bring the province’s total to 785. Eighty-five people have died of COVID-19 since the beginning of October...

                      ...Of the 279 new infections, 216 – or 77 per cent – are in unvaccinated people, including 64 cases in kids under the age of 12, who are not yet eligible for vaccination.

                      There are 3,670 active cases in the province, down from 4,658 last Monday. The seven-day average of daily new cases is 319, the lowest number since Sept. 5.

                      HOSPITALIZATIONS

                      There are 335 COVID-19 patients in hospital across the province, including 85 in the ICU – breaking the record of 84 patients set Sunday...

                          For 46 straight days, Saskatchewan’s COVID-19 death toll has risen. As the province reported five new deaths Wednesday, the total now sits at 798.

                          The five recently deceased who tested positive for the virus include two people in both the 80-plus and 60-to-79 age groups while the other was between 20 and 39 years old.

                          Hospitals in the province are currently providing care for 323 patients with COVID-19: 241 are receiving inpatient care and 82 are in ICUs. As of Wednesday, 73.7 per cent of the hospitalized patients were not fully vaccinated.

                          Two more patients have been transferred to Ontario, for a total of three Saskatchewan cases that have been sent for care out-of-province...

                            COVID-19: Saskatchewan death toll reaches 800, 355 new cases reported

                            Saskatchewan set a grim milestone on Thursday after two more residents who tested positive for COVID-19 died, bringing the death toll up to 800.

                            One death was reported in the north central zone and the other death was reported in the central west zone.

                            There are 322 people in hospital with COVID-19, including 76 receiving intensive care.

                            So far, six ICU patients from Saskatchewan have been transferred to Ontario hospitals. Patients who are receiving care out of province are not included in Saskatchewan’s daily counts.

                            On Thursday afternoon, the Saskatchewan government confirmed three more patients would be transferred to Ontario between Friday and Sunday...

                              COVID-19: Saskatchewan officials report record-breaking 12 deaths

                              Saskatchewan set a new record on Friday for reported COVID-19 deaths in a single day.

                              A total of 12 residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, the province reported. The record was previously set on Dec. 12, 2020, when 11 deaths were reported. That number was matched on Oct. 13, 2021.

                              Friday’s update brings the provincial death toll up to 812.

                              Officials also reported 300 new cases on Friday, with Saskatoon reporting 78 new cases. Regina reported 38 new infections.

                              The seven day average of daily new cases is 312 or 25.9 per 100,000 people.

                              There are 308 COVID-19 patients in hospital in Saskatchewan, including 80 patients receiving intensive care.

                              Of the 308 COVID-19 patients, 226 or 73.4 per cent were not fully vaccinated.

                              So far, six COVID-19 patients have been transferred to hospitals in Ontario. Three more patients are expected to be transferred between Friday and Sunday.

                              The provincial emergency operations centre confirmed on Friday that starting next week, “roughly” two to four patients are expected to be transferred daily...

                                5 COVID-19 deaths, 231 new cases reported in Sask.

                                The Government of Saskatchewan reported 231 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, along with five deaths.

                                There have been 817 deaths related to COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.

                                As of Saturday, 288 people are in hospital related to COVID-19 including 77 in intensive care. Residents who are not fully vaccinated account for 207, or 71.9 per cent, of current hospitalizations.

                                Seven Saskatchewan patients have been transferred for care out of province.

                                During an update Friday, the province said transfers would be increasing in the coming weeks, with the potential for two to four per day.

                                Of the new cases, 165, or 71 per cent, are unvaccinated, while 15 are partially vaccinated and 51 are fully vaccinated.

                                The province’s seven-day average of daily new COVID-19 cases is 286, or 23.8 per 100,000 population.

                                The daily case average is down 80 cases from the 366 recorded one week ago, a change of nearly 22 per cent...
