BC, Canada: 2021-2022-2023 Covid Cases

    As of Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, 84.2% (3,904,121) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 76.4% (3,541,731) received their second dose.

    In addition, 84.9% (3,672,685) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 77.5% (3,350,149) received their second dose.

    Over a three-day period, B.C. is reporting 1,853 new cases of COVID-19, including four epi-linked cases, for a total of 165,413 cases in the province:
    • Aug. 27-28: 769 new cases
    • Aug. 28-29: 581 new cases
    • Aug. 29-30: 503 new cases

    There are 5,918 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and 157,419 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 176 individuals are in hospital and 91 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

    The new/active cases include:
    • 531 new cases in Fraser Health
      • Total active cases: 1,371
    • 295 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
      • Total active cases: 1,076
    • 707 new cases in Interior Health
      • Total active cases: 2,424
    • 142 new cases in Northern Health
      • Total active cases: 453
    • 178 new cases in Island Health
      • Total active cases: 587
    • no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
      • Total active cases: seven

    In the past 72 hours, seven new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 1,814.

    The new deaths include:
    • Fraser Health: one
    • Interior Health: three
    • Northern Health: one
    • Island Health: two

    There have been four new health-care facility outbreaks at Chilliwack General Hospital (Fraser Health), Fort St. John Hospital (Northern Health), Rose Woods Village (Interior Health) and Sunset Lodge (Island Health). There are 18 active outbreaks, including:
    • long-term care: Heritage Village (Fraser Health), Brock Fahrni (Vancouver Coastal Health), Village at Mill Creek – second floor, Nelson Jubilee Manor, Kootenay Street Village, Cottonwoods Care Centre, Brookhaven Care Centre, Spring Valley Care Centre (Interior Health) and Sunset Lodge (Island Health)
    • acute care: Peace Arch Hospital, Chilliwack General Hospital (Fraser Health) and Fort St. John Hospital (Northern Health)
    • assisted or independent living: Nicola Meadows, Hawthorn Park, David Lloyd Jones, Sun Pointe Village, Hardy View Lodge and Rose Woods Village (Interior Health)

    From Aug. 13-26, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 81.7% of cases and 85.8% of hospitalizations.

    Past week cases (Aug. 20-26) – Total 4,565
    • Not vaccinated: 3,255 (71.3%)
    • Partially vaccinated: 477 (10.4%)
    • Fully vaccinated: 833 (18.2%)

    Past two weeks cases hospitalized (Aug. 13-26) – Total 217

    • Partially vaccinated: 14 (6.5%)
    • Fully vaccinated: 31 (14.3%)

    Past week, cases per 100,000 population (Aug. 20-26)
    • Not vaccinated: 208.3
    • Partially vaccinated: 111.1
    • Fully vaccinated: 26.2

    Since December 2020, the Province has administered 7,453,107 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines...

        BC health officials announced 785 new test-positive COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 166,853.
        In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said that there are 5,873 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. Of the active cases, 199 individuals are currently hospitalized, 112 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation...

          COVID-19 cases continued to mount in British Columbia Thursday, as health officials announced 801 new cases and six additional deaths.

          It lifted the seven-day average for new cases to 708, the highest it has been since early May...

            B.C. health officials announced 671 new cases of COVID-19 and three more deaths on Friday, as hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care continue to rise.

            In a written statement, the provincial Health Ministry said there are currently 5,872 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

            A total of 215 people are in hospital, with 118 in intensive care.

            Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up by 35 per cent from last Friday, when 159 people were in hospital with the disease.

            The number of patients in intensive care is up by about 40 per cent from 84 last week. ..

              Health officials in British Columbia reported 2,425 new cases of COVID-19 over a four-day period, along with 15 deaths.

              There were 695 cases from Friday to Saturday while 634 cases were reported from Saturday to Sunday, 563 from Sunday to Monday, and 533 from Monday to Tuesday....

              ...The number of people in hospital with the disease rose by 40 to 255. Of those, 126 patients are in intensive care, an increase of eight from Friday.

              There are 5,465 active cases in the province, a decrease of more than 400.

              The seven-day average for test positivity rates stands at six per cent, the highest it’s been since late May...

                B.C. health officials announced 814 new cases of COVID-19 but no additional deaths on Wednesday.

                In a written statement, the province said there are currently 5,550 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

                A total of 261 people are in hospital, with 129 in intensive care.

                Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up by 283 per cent from a month ago, Aug. 9, when 68 people were in hospital with the disease.

                The number of patients in intensive care is up by about 545 per cent from 20 a month ago.

                The province says 77.8 per cent of new cases recorded between Aug. 31 and Sept. 6 were among people not fully vaccinated. Between Aug. 24 and Sept. 6, they accounted for 85.9 per cent of hospitalizations.

                The provincial death toll from the disease is now 1,842 lives lost. There have been 171,564 confirmed cases to date...

                      BC health officials report nearly 2,000 new COVID-19 cases since Friday

                      British Columbia health officials announced on Monday that there have been 1,984 new test-positive COVID-19 cases since Friday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 175,142.

                      In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said that there are 5,825 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

                      Of the active cases, 278 individuals are currently hospitalized, 139 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

                      There were 823 cases between Friday and Saturday, 641 between Saturday and Sunday, and 520 between Sunday and Monday...

                      ...There have been nine new COVID-19-related deaths for a total of 1,865 deaths in British Columbia...

                        VANCOUVER -

                        B.C. health officials announced 677 new cases of COVID-19 and one related death on Tuesday, as the number of coronavirus patients in hospital climbed once again.

                        The update, delivered in a written statement from the Ministry of Health, pushed the province's seven-day average for new COVID-19 infections to 724, the highest it's been since May 4.

                        Hospitalizations increased to 288 – a jump of 10 from Monday – with 140 people being treated in intensive care. The ministry did not provide an updated breakdown on the patients' immunization status Tuesday, but on Monday reported that 87 per cent of the 139 patients then in ICU were unvaccinated...

                                There were 298 COVID-19 patients in hospital, the highest since May 21. Of them, 136 were in critical or intensive care, the most since May 16.

                                Just seven of the patients in ICU were fully vaccinated. All of the fully vaccinated ICU patients were over the age of 50...
