    COVID-19: British Columbia reports another 1,001 new cases, 4 new deaths

    British Columbia reported another four COVID-19 deaths and 1,001 new cases on Friday.

    The numbers, released in a written statement, showed 1,554 people have now died from complications of the virus in B.C.

    The 1,001 new cases bring the total number of cases to 123,758.

    Of the new cases, 215 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 626 new cases were in the Fraser Health region, 26 were in the Island Health region, 93 were in the Interior Health region, 39 were in the Northern Health region and two new cases were detected in people who reside outside of Canada.

    There are 486 people in the hospital, which is down 16 from Thursday, but 160 people remain in intensive care.

    There remain 8,842 active cases of the virus in the province with 12,608 in self-isolation...

      British Columbia health officials on Monday reported 2,491 new cases of COVID-19 over the past three days along with 17 deaths.

      There were 881 cases from Friday to Saturday while 847 cases were reported from Saturday to Sunday, and 763 from Sunday to Monday.

      Of the new cases, 466 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 1,632 were in the Fraser Health region, 82 were in Island Health, 206 were in Interior Health, and 104 were in Northern Health.

      The seven-day rolling average of B.C.?s positivity rates is 9.3 per cent...

        B.C. health officials announced 799 more cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday and, for the first time in a month, reported no new deaths.

        According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, there are currently 8,089 active cases of people infected with the disease caused by the novel coronavirus in B.C.

        A total of 500 people are in hospital, with 164 in intensive care.

        Hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up by 44 from last Thursday, when 456 people were in hospital, 148 of whom were in intensive care...

          B.C. health officials announced 841 new cases of COVID-19 and five more deaths on Wednesday.

          In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are 8,009 active cases of the novel coronavirus in B.C.

          A total of 515 people are in hospital, with 171 in intensive care.

          The provincial death toll from the disease is 1,576 out of 127,889 confirmed cases to date.

          Public health is actively monitoring 11,657 people across the province who are in self-isolation due to COVID-19 exposure.

          Outbreaks at Sunset Manor in Chilliwack and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital are now over.

          So far, 1,705,409 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 89,725 second doses...

            B.C. health officials announced 874 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday and one more death due to the disease.

            There are currently 503 people who are in hospital with the disease, 178 of whom are in intensive care.

            So far, B.C. has recorded 128,763 cases of COVID-19, including 1,577 people who have died.

            As of Thursday, 1,749,375 doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered.

            Henry said some data was not immediately available for Thursday's news conference, including the number of active cases.
            Hospitalizations still high

            Today's numbers come in the wake of a Wednesday statement from health officials that showed COVID-19 related hospitalizations at an all-time high in B.C.

            According to the statement, the number of people in hospital has gone up 6.6 per cent in the last week, while the number of patients in intensive care has risen by 4.3 per cent.

            Henry said hospitals are "feeling the strain" with so many COVID patients...

              B.C. health officials announced 740 new cases of COVID-19 and four more deaths on Friday.

              In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said there are 7,886 active cases of the novel coronavirus in B.C.

              The latest numbers bring the seven-day rolling average of new cases to its lowest level since March 29, the day provincial health officials announced the latest round of restrictions meant to bring the third wave of the pandemic under control. Those restrictions include a ban on indoor dining in restaurants and pubs and an end to all indoor group fitness activities.

              A total of 511 people are in hospital, 174 of whom are in intensive care.

              Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up by five per cent from last Friday, when 486 people were in hospital with the disease. The number of patients in intensive care is up by about nine per cent from 160 a week ago...

                B.C. reports over 2,150 new COVID cases, 15 deaths

                British Columbia health officials have reported 2,174 new cases and 15 deaths from COVID-19 since their last update on April 30.

                From Friday to Saturday there were 835, from Saturday to Sunday there were 671 new cases, and from Sunday to Monday, there were 668 new cases identified.

                Officials also announced that one of the deaths over the weekend was someone on Vancouver Island.

                The number of confirmed cases in B.C. climbs to 131,656 while the province?s death toll now stands at 1,596.

                Of the new cases, 438 were recorded in Vancouver Coastal Health, 1,509 were in Fraser Health, 61 in Island Health, 106 in Interior Health, and 60 in Northern Health.

                There are currently active 7,327 cases in the province, 474 people in hospital ? 176 of whom are in intensive care ? and 11,781 people under active public health monitoring due to possible exposure to an identified case.

                A total of 122,518 people in B.C. have recovered from COVID-19 while more than 1.87 million doses of vaccine have been administered province-wide.

                During Monday?s live update, Dr. Bonnie Henry, the provincial health officer, said everyone 18 or older in B.C. can now register to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment. She also announced that more than one million doses of vaccine are slated to arrive in the province this month, meaning more needles in people?s arms...

                  Another 697 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in British Columbia, along with one death.

                  Of the new cases, 142 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 456 were in the Fraser Health region, 19 were in Island Health, 65 were in Interior Health, and 14 were in Northern Health.

                    There were no new COVID-19 deaths in British Columbia Wednesday, as the province reported the fewest new cases in a 24-hour period in more than six weeks.

                    In a written statement, health officials reported 572 new cases, the lowest total since March 20. It brought the seven-day moving average down to 719, the lowest it?s been since March 26.

                    There were 6,887 active cases ? the fewest B.C. has seen since March 28.There were 481 people in hospital, 161 of whom were in critical or intensive care. ..

                      British Columbia reported one new COVID-19 death and 694 new cases of the virus, as active cases and hospitalizations trended downward again, Thursday.

                      It dropped the province?s seven-day average for new cases to 697, the lowest it has been since March 25.

                      At a live briefing, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said the number of active cases in B.C. had also fallen to 6,802, its lowest in nearly six weeks.

                      At some point Thursday, B.C. will also reach the milestone of two million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered, Henry said.

                      ?This is very good news,? Henry said.

                      ?Our immunizations are going up quickly, and the ages of those who are eligible for a vaccine is coming down.?

                      Nearly 1.9 million people, accounting for almost 37 per cent of B.C.?s population have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine...

                          B.C. has recorded another 1,759 cases of COVID-19 over the last three days, and 20 more people have died of the disease, health officials announced Monday.

                          Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie provided the province's first update on the pandemic since Friday, announcing that 415 people are now in hospital with the novel coronavirus, including 150 who are in intensive care. There are 6,140 active cases across the province.

                          The lives lost over the weekend include two people in their 40s and two in their 50s, Henry said.

                          So far, 1,622 people have died of COVID-19 in B.C., out of 136,100 cases confirmed to date.

                          There have been no new outbreaks in the health-care system, but a new workplace outbreak has been declared at the Sunrise Poultry plant in Surrey. Outbreaks have been declared over at Surrey Memorial Hospital and the Dufferin Care Centre in Coquitlam.

                              B.C. reports 600 new COVID-19 cases, vaccine bookings to open for people 30+ Wednesday

                              British Columbia reported 600 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday and one additional death, as it prepared to open vaccinations to anyone aged 30 and over.

                              It left B.C.?s seven-day average for new cases at 613, a slight uptick from Tuesday, when just 515 cases were reported.

                              The number of British Columbians currently infected trended down again, to 5,887.

                              Of the new cases, 150 were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 394 were in the Fraser Health region, eight were in the Island Health region, 39 were in the Interior Health region and nine were in the Northern Health region.

                              There were 423 people in hospital, an overnight drop of three, while the number of patients in intensive care remained flat at 141...

                                B.C. announces 587 new COVID-19 cases, second case of blood clotting linked to AstraZeneca

                                British Columbia is reporting 587 new cases of COVID-19 for the entire province with five additional deaths in that span.

                                Of the 587 new cases, 21 are linked to the Island Health region.

                                Dr. Bonnie Henry says that 413 are in hospital ? a decrease of 10 since May 13 ? with 141 people in critical care as a result of the virus (no change from yesterday). There are currently 5,691 active cases in British Columbia.

                                Since Wednesday?s numbers, there have been 126 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 365 in the Fraser Health region, 21 in the Island Health region, 60 in the Interior Health region, 15 in the Northern Health region and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

                                There were five additional deaths related to the virus on Thursday. This brings the provincial death total over the course of the pandemic to 1,632.

                                Also as of Thursday, the total number of cases in British Columbia over the course of the pandemic has reached 137,810.

                                Health officials also said, to date, 2,335,513 doses of all three COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the province, 119,691 of which are second doses.

                                Dr. Henry did provide an update stating that there has been a second case of vaccine-induced blood clotting that has been linked to an AstraZeneca dose.

                                The blood clotting case is a man in his forties, who is currently being treated in hospital and is in stable condition in the Fraser Health region...
