    BC health officials report nearly 1,700 new COVID-19 cases since Friday

    British Columbia health officials announced on Monday that there have been 1,692 new test-positive COVID-19 cases since Friday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 179,646.

    In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix said that there are 5,608 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

    Of the active cases, 307 individuals are currently hospitalized, 156 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

    There were 644 cases between Friday and Saturday, 613 between Saturday and Sunday, and 435 between Sunday and Monday...

      Another 525 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in British Columbia, along with one death, provincial health officials said Tuesday...

      ...The number of people in hospital with the disease rose to 332, an increase of 25 from Monday. Of those patients, 155 are in intensive care, a decrease of one.

      The one death in the Vancouver Coastal Health region brings B.C.’s COVID-19 death toll to 1,900.

      There have been 180,171 cases in B.C. since the start of the pandemic, 5,282 of which are active.

      The province said the numbers of total and new cases are provisional due to a delayed data refresh and will be verified once confirmed...

        B.C. reports 759 new COVID-19 cases, 10 additional deaths

        There are 759 new cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia along with 10 additional deaths, health officials reported Wednesday.

        Of the new cases, 233 were in the Interior Health region, 101 cases were in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 214 were in the Fraser Health region, 79 were in Island Health, and 129 were in Northern Health. Three cases involved people who reside outside of Canada.

        After rising earlier in the week, the number of people in hospital with the disease fell slightly to 324. Of those patients, 157 are in intensive care, an increase of two.

        The 10 deaths — seven in Fraser Health, two in Vancouver Coastal Health, and one in Island Health — bring the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 1,910...

          B.C. added 861 new cases of COVID-19 to its total on Thursday, as well as five deaths, according to the coronavirus dashboard maintained by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

          The latest numbers bring the province's seven-day rolling average to 658, up from 636 on Wednesday.

          There are currently 5,726 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Of those, 330 people are battling the disease in hospital, a total that includes 148 infectious patients in intensive care...

            British Columbia announced 743 new cases of COVID-19 and seven more deaths on Friday, even as the province hit a vaccination milestone, with 80 percent of those 12 and older now fully vaccinated and 87.5 per cent having received at least one dose.

            A total of 319 people are in hospital, with 149 in intensive care.

            In a written statement, the province said that from Sept. 16 to 22, people who were not fully vaccinated accounted for 75 per cent of cases and from Sept. 9 to 22, they accounted for 81.9 per cent of hospitalizations.

            After factoring for age, people not vaccinated are 25.9 times more likely to be hospitalized than those who are fully vaccinated, it said.

            The Health Ministry said there are currently 5,979 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

            Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up by seven per cent from last Friday, when 298 people were in hospital with the disease and about 131 per cent from a month ago on Aug. 24 when 138 people were in hospital.

            The number of patients in intensive care is up by about 10 per cent from 135 a week ago and by 91 per cent from a month ago when 78 people were in the ICU.

            The provincial death toll from the disease is now 1,922 lives lost out of 182,541 confirmed cases to date...

              As of Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, 87.7% (4,064,859) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 80.5% (3,729,606) have received their second dose.

              In addition, 88.2% (3,815,333) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 81.3% (3,515,026) have received their second dose.

              Over a three-day period, B.C. is reporting 2,239 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 184,780 cases in the province:
              • Sept. 24-25: 876 new cases
              • Sept. 25-26: 657 new cases
              • Sept. 26-27: 706 new cases

              Note: The numbers of total and new cases are provisional due to a delayed data refresh and will be verified once confirmed.

              There are 6,098 active cases of COVID-19 in the province and 176,354 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 303 individuals are in hospital and 141 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

              Note: Intensive care numbers are a subset of the total in hospital. They are not in addition to the number of people in hospital.

              The new/active cases include:

              In the past 72 hours, 18 new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 1,940.

              The new deaths include:
              • Fraser Health: three
              • Interior Health: five
              • Island Health: three
              • Vancouver Coastal Health: six
              • Northern Health: one

              There have been five new health-care facility outbreaks at The Residence in Mission, Hallmark on the Lake, Maple Ridge Christian School, Magnolia Gardens (Fraser Health) and Cooper Place (Vancouver Coastal Health).

              Five outbreaks have been declared over at Chilliwack General Hospital, Northcrest Care Centre (Fraser Health), Spring Valley Care Centre, David Lloyd Jones Home and Sun Pointe Village (Interior Health).

              There are a total of 21 active outbreaks, including:
              • long-term care: Westminster House, Menno Terrace East, The Residence in Mission, Magnolia Gardens (Fraser Health), Arbutus Care Centre, Louis Brier Home and Hospital (Vancouver Coastal Health), Village at Mill Creek – second floor, Cottonwoods Care Centre, Kamloops Seniors Village, Hillside Village, The Hamlets at Westsyde, Joseph Creek Care Village, Overlander (Interior Health), Jubilee Lodge (Northern Health) and Victoria Chinatown Care Centre (Island Health)

              • assisted or independent living: Sunset Manor, Hallmark on the Lake (Fraser Health), Hardy View Lodge (Interior Health), Cooper Place (Vancouver Coastal Health)
              • School or daycare: Maple Ridge Christian School (Fraser Health)

              Breakthrough cases analysis is not available today, however, it is expected to be included in tomorrow’s information bulletin.

                British Columbia has recorded another 652 cases of COVID-19 and two related deaths, according to an update posted after officials announced new regional restrictions for part of the Lower Mainland.

                The latest numbers were shared on the B.C. Centre for Disease Control's COVID-19 dashboard on Tuesday afternoon, and pushed the province's seven-day average for new infections to 746 per day, up from 728 on Monday.

                The dashboard also indicated coronavirus hospitalizations increased to 316, up from 303 on Monday, with 141 patients in intensive care.

                  British Columbia has recorded another 813 cases of COVID-19 and 11 related deaths, according to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

                  The latest numbers, provided on the BCCDC's COVID-19 dashboard on Wednesday afternoon, pushed the province's seven-day average for coronavirus cases to 754 per day, the highest it's been since May 4.

                  B.C.'s seven-day average for deaths also increased to 6.14 per day, the highest its been since Feb. 14.

                  The number of COVID-19 patients in hospital also increased to 340, up from 316 on Tuesday, with 146 of them in intensive care.

                  Officials have not provided a breakdown of the patients' vaccination status, but 90 per cent of the 141 people in ICU as of Tuesday were either unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated.

                  None of the 14 ICU patients under the age of 40 had received a single dose of vaccine...

                    B.C. health officials announced 749 new cases of COVID-19 and nine more deaths on Thursday.

                    In a written statement, the provincial Ministry of Health said that the number of active cases and overall hospitalizations are not available because of the federal holiday marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

                    However, 145 people are in intensive care with the disease — a decrease of two per cent from last Thursday, when there were 148 ICU patients.

                    The provincial death toll from COVID-19 is now 1,962 lives lost out of 186,994 confirmed cases to date...

                        British Columbia has reported 1,986 new cases of COVID-19 and 10 more deaths over the past three days: 617 new cases from Friday to Saturday, 707 cases from Saturday to Sunday and 662 cases from Sunday to Monday.

                        In a written statement, the provincial government said there are currently 5,986 active cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus in B.C.

                        A total of 326 people are in hospital, with 142 in intensive care.

                        Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up by 7.6 per cent from last Monday, when 303 people were in hospital with the disease and about 51.6 per cent from a month ago when 215 people were in hospital.

                            The latest cases bring the province's rolling seven-day average for new infections to 685, down from 694 on Tuesday.

                            There are currently 5,945 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C., a total that includes 350 people who are hospitalized and still infectious. There are 136 infectious coronavirus patients in intensive care units in the province...

                              A total of 373 people are in hospital, with 132 in intensive care.

                              Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up by 13.7 per cent from last Thursday, when 328 people were in hospital with the disease and about 46 per cent from a month ago on Sept. 7, when 255 people were in hospital.

                              The number of patients in intensive care is down by about eight per cent from 145 a week ago and up by four per cent from a month ago when 126 people were in the ICU.
