B.C. health officials announced 407 new cases of COVID-19 and 14 more deaths on Tuesday.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix put the number of hospitalized patients at 313 people, 71 of whom are in intensive care.

A total of 1,168 people in B.C. have lost their lives due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

There are currently 4,260 active cases of coronavirus in the province, with public health monitoring 6,450 people across B.C. who are in self-isolation due to COVID-19 exposure. More than 58,352 people who tested positive have recovered.

So far, 122,359 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., 4,105 of which are second doses...

B.C. health officials announced 485 new cases of COVID-19 and four more deaths on Wednesday.

In a written statement, Health Minister Adrian Dix and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry noted there are 303 COVID-19 patients in hospital, including 74 in intensive care.

Since the pandemic began, a total of 1,172 people in the province have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

There are currently 4,299 active cases of the virus in B.C., with public health monitoring 6,520 people who are in self-isolation due to COVID-19 exposure. More than 58,778 people who tested positive have since recovered.

So far, 124,365 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., 4,160 of which are second doses...

B.C. health officials announced 546 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 more deaths on Thursday.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix put the number of hospitalized patients at 291 people, 75 of whom are in intensive care.

A total of 1,184 people in B.C. have lost their lives due to the disease since the pandemic began.

There are currently 4,455 active cases of coronavirus in the province, with public health monitoring 7,176 people across B.C. who are in self-isolation due to COVID-19 exposure. At least 59,141 people who tested positive have recovered.

There are two new outbreaks in health-care facilities. Outbreaks at Chilliwack General Hospital, KinVillage, KinVillage West Court and Rideau Retirement Residence are now declared over.

So far, 127,255 people have received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with 4,185 of those being second doses...

B.C. health officials announced 514 new cases of COVID-19 and five more deaths on Friday and said all residents and caregivers at long-term care facilities have now been offered a vaccine.

There are now 4,557 active cases in the province. A total of 292 people are in hospital, with 74 in intensive care.

During Friday's briefing, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry confirmed seven cases associated with the COVID variant first seen in the U.K. variant and four cases associated with the strain first identified in South Africa.

There is one new outbreak at a health-care facility, for a total of 25 outbreaks in long-term care facilities. An outbreak at Little Mountain Place in Vancouver that killed dozens of residents has now been declared over.

A total of 124,979 people in B.C. have now received a vaccine, with 4,262 of those being second doses.

Although she is "tremendously relieved" that vaccines have now been offered to every long-term care facility, Henry said vaccine supply is proving to be a challenge...

A total of 18 people have been identified with infections of new variants of the novel coronavirus in B.C., an issue that Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says is one of the most concerning facing the province right now.

During Monday's daily briefing, Henry said that 14 cases of the variant first reported in the U.K. have been confirmed here, along with four of the variant from South Africa.

She pointed out that Ontario is starting to see community transmission of the new variants, and B.C. health officials are stepping up surveillance to track the spread of these more infectious versions.

"This is one of the things that is factoring into all of the decisions that we have to make together over the coming weeks," Henry said.

Monday's update is the first since Friday.

Henry said B.C. health officials have confirmed 1,158 more cases of COVID-19 over the last three days and another 21 people have died....

Sixteen new COVID-19 deaths, 414 new cases, as variant confirmed at B.C. high school

British Columbia marked its deadliest day of COVID-19 reporting since Jan. 1, with 16 deaths and 414 new cases on Wednesday.

It marked the fifth consecutive day that new cases were below 500, and left the seven-day average for daily new cases at 437.

In a written statement, officials also confirmed that a case of COVID-19 at Garabaldi High School in Maple Ridge was in fact the B.1.1.7 variant, which was first discovered in the U.K.

“Public health teams have conducted a full investigation at Garibaldi High School. Testing has confirmed the original person did have the B.1.1.7 variant of concern,” said the statement.

“They have since recovered and there is no longer an exposure risk.”...

VANCOUVER -- B.C. health officials announced another 16 deaths related to COVID-19 and 414 new cases on Wednesday.

The province has now recorded a total of 1,234 coronavirus fatalities and 68,780 infections since the start of the pandemic.

B.C.'s active caseload decreased to 4,426 and hospitalizations fell to 278, which is the lowest number of patients in hospital since Nov. 23. That includes 80 patients in intensive care.

B.C. health officials announced 465 new cases of COVID-19 and six more deaths on Thursday as the province continues to show a slow bending of the epidemic's curve.

In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix put the number of hospitalized patients at 257 people, 76 of whom are in intensive care.

The number of people hospitalized is at its lowest level since Nov. 21.

A total of 1,240 people in B.C. have lost their lives due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

The current orders restricting daily life and socialization in B.C. are going to stay in place indefinitely, the province announced Friday.

The orders had been set to expire at midnight. In announcing the extension, officials said B.C has made "encouraging" progress in reducing the spread of COVID-19, but the situation isn't stable enough to allow people to start getting together again.

"Right now, we need to stay the path," said Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry. "We need to protect the progress we have made and not squander our progress."

Henry said there's a chance things might change by March, but there is no official expiry date on the extended orders.

"By the end of the month, once again, we can look to having our 'safe six' — our bubble — again," she said...

B.C. tops 70,000 cases of COVID-19 after identifying 1,236 infections over the weekend

VANCOUVER -- British Columbia recorded another 1,236 cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, pushing the provincial total past 70,000.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry also announced 13 more deaths related to the disease at her coronavirus briefing on Monday.

"Our condolences go out to those families and caregivers and communities that have lost loved ones again this weekend," Henry said.

The province has now recorded a total of 70,952 infections and 1,259 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The latest count includes 40 confirmed cases of the U.K. and South African COVID-19 variants, five of which are not connected to international travel.

Only three of the 40 identified variant cases are currently active, and health officials said they're confident the majority of cases did not lead to any further transmission.

"We're watching very closely for the further spread of what we call variants of concern here in British Columbia," Henry said. "Public health has done extensive follow-up and tracing back of all of our cases."

Hospitalizations have dropped to 234 – the lowest number of COVID-19 patients in hospital since Nov. 22 – with 69 people in intensive care.
