    The latest COVID-19 numbers:

    As of Monday's provincial update, there were 351 people in hospital in Alberta — a decrease of nine from the previous day. Of those, 94 were in intensive care units. Sunday represented the first time since April 16 that fewer than 100 COVID-19 patients have been in intensive care unit beds in Alberta.
    Alberta reported 127 new COVID-19 cases on Monday and two more deaths.
    There are 4,707 active cases.
    The rate of active cases was 110 per 100,000 people in Alberta.
    Provincial labs completed 4,027 tests over the last 24 hours. The positivity rate was 3.2 per cent.
    There have now been 2,248 COVID deaths.
    222,364 Albertans are considered to have recovered from COVID-19.
    The latest R-value reported for the province was 0.74, meaning the virus is spreading to less than one person for each confirmed case.
    Alberta is once again screening all positive cases of COVID-19 for variants of concern.
    417 schools, or 17 per cent of schools in the province, are on alert or have outbreaks with 3,409 total cases. In-school transmission is believed to have occurred in 870 schools since Jan. 11...

      Alberta's steady decline in the numbers of new and active cases of COVID-19 cases continued on Tuesday according to numbers released by Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health.

      The province reported 139 new cases on Tuesday. Active cases fell to 4,431, the lowest mark since March 9, Hinshaw said. Total active cases have dropped by over 20,000 over the past month, she said.

      There were 336 people being treated for COVID-19 hospital including 85 in intensive care.

      The province reported three new COVID-19 deaths, a man in his 40s from the Calgary health zone and two men in their 60s from the North and Central zones.

      The positivity rate was 4.18 per cent on 3,443 tests.

      And while the province's leading COVID-19 indicators continue to drop, the pace of first dose vaccinations has slowed...

        The latest COVID-19 numbers:

        The province reported 313 new cases and five more deaths on Wednesday. Active cases fell to 4,204.
        Total active cases have dropped by more than 20,000 over the past month.
        There were 329 people in hospital in Alberta — a decrease of seven from the previous day. Of those, 83 were in intensive care units. Sunday represented the first time since April 16 that fewer than 100 COVID-19 patients have been in ICU beds in Alberta.
        Provincial labs completed 8,545 tests over the past 24 hours. The positivity rate was 3.8 per cent.
        There have now been 2,256 COVID deaths.
        229,771 Albertans are considered to have recovered from COVID-19.
        The latest R-value reported for the province was 0.74, meaning the virus is spreading to less than one person for each confirmed case.
        Alberta is once again screening all positive cases of COVID-19 for variants of concern.
        241 schools, or 10 per cent of schools in the province, are on alert or have outbreaks with 2,007 total cases. In-school transmission is believed to have occurred in 882 schools since Jan. 11.
        Four units at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary are dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks, with 20 cases of the rapidly spreading delta variant, or B.1.617.2, detected on two of the units. A total of 25 patients and four health-care workers have tested positive COVID-19 in the four affected units, according to Alberta Health Services. All but one case were acquired in-hospital.
        As of June 7, there are COVID-19 outbreaks at these AHS and Covenant Health acute care facilities:

          Alberta speeds up schedule for 2nd-dose COVID-19 vaccine bookings
          An additional 650,000 Albertans can start booking second doses now, Kenney says

          Albertans who received their first doses of COVID-19 vaccine in April can start booking their second shots immediately, Premier Jason Kenney announced Thursday.

          The move accelerates the previous plan, which had been to open bookings next week for Albertans who had their first doses in April...

          ...Kenney said 67.8 per cent of Albertans have now received a first dose of vaccine.

          Alberta reported 178 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, and 138 additional cases of variants of concern were identified.

          Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, said 306 people were in hospital as of Thursday, including 81 in intensive care.

          The deaths of another six people were reported to Alberta Health. Five of the deaths were this week and one was from December.

          There were 5,501 tests completed in the previous 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 3.3 per cent...

            Alberta reports 170 new COVID-19 cases as hospitalizations continue to drop

            EDMONTON -- Alberta reported another 170 cases of COVID-19 Friday as hospitalizations and ICU admissions continue to decline.

            The province completed 6,682 tests to raise the positivity rate to 3.9 per cent.

            There are 296 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 79 in ICU. Last Friday, there were 379 patients seeking treatment for COVID-19 in hospital including 108 in ICU.

            Three more deaths from COVID-19 were reported Friday, raising the provincial total to 2,265 deaths.

            More than 3.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta with 67.8 per cent of the population aged 12 and over receiving at least one dose. Currently 16.7 per cent of the population eligible for immunization are fully vaccinated.

            The province entered Stage 2 of the reopening plan on Thursday...

                    EDMONTON -- In Tuesday's COVID-19 update, the province reported 127 new cases and 2,804 active cases, the lowest since Oct. 15.

                    Dr. André Corriveau, the deputy chief medical officer of health for Alberta, also announced 85 of the new cases were variants of concern. Corriveau is filling in for Dr. Deena Hinshaw this week while she's on vacation.

                    The 127 new cases come after more than 4,400 tests, meaning the province is sitting at a positivity rate of 2.9 per cent. Corriveau also announced four new deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours...

                          EDMONTON -- Alberta reported fewer than 200 new cases on Friday for a ninth straight day as the province began its countdown to Stage 3 reopening after officially surpassing its vaccination target.

                          At the end of Thursday, 70.2 per cent of Albertans have received at least a first dose of vaccine. More than 983,000, or about 25.8 per cent of the eligible population has received a second dose.

                          Stage 3, which removes almost all public health restrictions, will begin on July 1.

                          The province added 124 new cases Friday, as the active case count fell to 2,336.

                          There are now 237 Albertans in hospital receiving care for COVID-19, including 58 in intensive care units...

                                Alberta reported 57 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday and one new death.

                                Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the province's chief medical officer of health, said 38 additional variant cases were identified in the last 24 hours.

                                There are now 1,773 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, the lowest number since Oct. 2, Hinshaw told a news conference.

                                She said 200 people are in hospital being treated for the disease, including 54 patients in intensive care.

                                Another 5,000 tests were performed in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 1.4 per cent, she said.

                                To date more than 3.85 million doses of vaccine have been administered in the province, including more than 45,000 on Monday, Hinshaw said.

                                She said 70.8 per cent of eligible Albertans age 12 and up have had one dose of vaccine, and 30.4 per cent of the same group are fully immunized with two doses...
