COVID-19 numbers in Quebec continue to decrease with the province reporting fewer than 10 deaths due to the disease for the first time in 2022.

Quebec reported on Sunday that nine more people have died due to the novel coronavirus, bringing the total to 13,693.

Hospitalizations continued to drop in Quebec with the Health Ministry saying there are 62 fewer patients receiving care for the virus for a total of 2,081. Of those, 140 patients are in intensive care wards, a decrease of 13.

The majority of the new patients continue to be over 60 years old. Of the 121 new patients that checked in for care (183 were discharged), 80 were over 60 with 44 of those triple-vaccinated, 18 double-vaccinated, 12 unvaccinated and six patients with unknown vaccination status.

Of the 41 patients under 60, five were triple-vaccinated, 12 double-vaccinated, 11 unvaccinated and one having received one dose of vaccine. Five patients had unknown vaccination status at check in, one was fully vaccinated and between five and 11 years old and six patients were under five and ineligible to receive a dose.

Of the nine patients admitted or transferred to the ICU, four were over 60 (three triple-vaccinated, one unknown vaccination status), and five were younger than 60 (one triple-vaccinated, one double-vaccinated, two unvaccinated and one unknown vaccination status).

Of the 21,637 PCR tests analyzed by health-care professionals, 1,870 came back positive for a positivity rate of 8.7 per cent...

Quebec registered 17 new deaths and a slight uptick in hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 as the next phase of the province’s reopening plan began Monday.

The province reported 1,431 new novel coronavirus cases, though the daily tally is not representative of the situation since only groups considered high-risk can access government screening sites...

After a bump in Quebec COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday, Wednesday's numbers dropped down to more average recent levels, though the province is still seeing dozens of deaths per day.

In the last 24 hours, 24 people have died from the virus.

Total hospitalizations, however, dropped below 2,000, with another net decrease of 57 people getting hospital care. There are now a total of 1,995 hospitalizations in the province for the virus.

Many people are still being admitted to hospital -- 130 in the last day -- but a greater number are being discharged, with 187 leaving the hospital since yesterday.

There was a decrease of three in the total number of ICU patients, which is currently at 129. In the last day, 13 people were newly admitted to ICUs and 16 left.

Official testing numbers show 2,328 new infections, but those numbers don't reflect the true total since PCR tests are limited to a small group of Quebecers with high vulnerability.

Quebecers also reported 518 new infections after at-home tests yesterday, though those voluntary reports also don't reflect the true total...

Quebec is reporting 22 more deaths linked to COVID-19 on Thursday and 93 fewer hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Intensive care admissions are down by five, for a total of 119 people receiving care.

Of the new hospitalizations, six are under the age of four (an age group not eligible for vaccination) and one is between the ages of five and 11.

An additional seven people under the age of 59 and 13 aged 60 and older are unvaccinated or received their first dose less than 14 days ago.

Eight people under the age of 59 and 43 aged 60 and older received their third dose more than seven days ago, while eight have unknown vaccination status.

Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé points out vaccination does not completely prevent infection, but it does decrease the risk of dire consequences.

The province's health officials also confirmed 23 more deaths, a total of 13,835.

The number of active infections is now 24,114, with 926 outbreaks...
