      COVID-19: Quebec reports 784 new cases, 3 more deaths

      Quebec is reporting 784 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday and three additional deaths attributed to the virus.

      To date, the province has recorded 448,171 infections and 428,679 recoveries bringing the number of active cases to 7,913.

      Pandemic-related hospitalizations increased by one in the last day with 227 patients. Of, those, 51 are in intensive care for a jump of six.

      On Monday, the province confirmed its first case of the Omicron variant in a person having recently arrived from Nigeria, with another 115 travellers under watch.

      Quebec’s top doctor said the new variant was being monitored to see if it becomes the dominant variant ahead of the Delta variant...

                  Quebec COVID-19 cases surge again, with 1,355 new infections Friday

                  MONTREAL -- Quebec on Friday reported another significant jump in daily new COVD-19 cases, with 1,355 new infections.

                  That's the highest since April 16.

                  On Wednesday, the province reported 1,196 cases, the highest since April 24, and those numbers dropped only slightly on Thursday, to 1,146.

                  There have been two more deaths, similar to the last two days.

                  Hospitalizations went up slightly, with a net increase of three people in hospital and four more in intensive care, bringing those totals to 230 in hospital and 57 in ICU...

                      Quebec COVID-19 cases spike again with 1,512 new infections

                      MONTREAL -- Quebec reported 1,512 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, the largest single-day increase since April.

                      The last time the province reported cases that high was April 15 (1,684), at the peak of Quebec's springtime coronavirus wave.

                      Public health is monitoring 806 active cases within the province.

                      One more person has been reported dead due to the virus, bringing that total to 11,585 since the pandemic began.

                      Despite the spike in cases, overall hospitalizations decreased. There were 225 people in care Saturday morning, a decrease of five since the day before.

                      ICU cases creeped up, however. There were 60 reported intensive care patients Saturday...

                          Quebec reported 1,189 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday and two new deaths.
                          Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 455,825 confirmed cases and 11,589 people have died.
                          There are 226 people in hospital (an increase of seven), including 62 in intensive care (an increase of three).
                          The province has administered 13,776,224 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 19,746 doses in the last 24 hours.
                          86 per cent of the eligible population in the province (age five and up) has received one dose of vaccine, and 81 per cent has received two doses.

                          Note: Quebec's vaccination rate has been adjusted to include five- to 11-year-olds, causing the overall percentage to drop. Vaccinations for the group began last week.

                          Quebec's Health Ministry does not publish the number of vaccines administered on weekends and public holidays...

                              Quebec has 1,234 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of people infected to 457,059 since the start of the pandemic.

                              The province's health officials also confirmed five more deaths, a total of 11,594...

                              ...Hospitalizations are up by nine, bringing the number of people in Quebec hospitals to 235, that is 30 admissions and 21 discharges.

                              Of those, 58 people are in intensive care; down by four -- three new patients and seven who were released.

                              Of the new cases, 636 people are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated with one dose received less than 14 days ago; 19 are people who had one dose more than two weeks ago and 579 are people who received two doses of a vaccine more than seven days ago.

                              Of the new hospitalizations, 14 are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people who received one dose less than two weeks ago; none are people who had one dose more than two weeks ago and 16 are people who received two doses more than one week ago.

                              Health officials note the risk of infection for people who are not vaccinated is 3.3 times that of someone who received two doses and the risk of hospitalization is 15.4 times someone who is fully vaccinated...
