    Quebec health-care workers absent due to COVID-19 drops below 3,000

    The number of Quebec health-care workers absent for COVID-19-related reasons dropped below 3,000 on Monday with the government reporting 2,937 workers off. That number is down 516 from Friday's COVID-19 update.

    COVID-19 hospitalizations are also down with the Ministry of Health reporting 16 fewer patients in hospital being treated for the disease, making that total 1,642. Of those, 41 people are in intensive care units, a decrease of two.

    Two more people are reported to have died due to the disease, bringing the overall number of deaths to 17,272 since the start of the pandemic...

    The latest COVID-19 data show that an additional 54 people have died in Quebec, bringing the total number of deaths in the province to 17,244 since the start of the pandemic.

    This represents a spike in the number of deaths compared to the last few weeks, which the health ministry attributed to "a catch-up in the data entry of deaths that occurred more than two months ago."

    Quebec reported that one death occurred in the last 24 hours, while three occurred between two and seven days ago and 50 deaths occurred more than seven days ago.

    There are 42 new hospitalizations compared to the previous day, including 593 due to COVID-19 for a total of 1,726. Six more people were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), bringing ICU cases to 39 in all...

    Quebec hospitalizations stable, 12 more deaths due to COVID-19

    Quebec is reporting that 12 more people have died due to COVID-19 bringing the total to 17,190 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

    All of the most recent deaths occurred between two and seven days ago.

    Only two people have been discharged from hospitals since the previous day, bringing the number of hospitalizations down to 1,684, with 566 admitted because of complications of the virus.

    There are 33 in intensive care including 19 due to COVID-19, which is a decrease of 5 compared to the previous 24-hour period.

    The most recent data shows 793 new cases of the coronavirus, raising the total number of cases to 1,239,532, since the beginning of the pandemic...

    Quebec reported on Thursday that 16 additional people have died due to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 17,152 since the start of the pandemic.

    Nine of the deaths occurred between two and seven days ago and seven deaths occurred more than seven days ago.

    There are 11 fewer patients in hospitals than reported the previous day. Out of 1,830 hospitalizations across the province, 644 were admitted specifically because of COVID-19 infections.

    The number of people in intensive care units remained stable at 41, including 27 admitted because of COVID-19 complications...

    An additional 11 people with COVID-19 have died in Quebec, it was reported Wednesday, bringing the total deaths since the pandemic began to 17,136.

    Of those, one death was recorded in the last 24 hours, seven were recorded between two and seven days ago, and three were recorded over a week ago.

    There are 1,841 people with COVID-19 in Quebec hospitals, an increase of six from the previous day, with 145 entries and 139 discharges. Of the infected patients, 632 were admitted for reasons directly related to the virus, whereas the rest tested positive while seeking treatment for other conditions.

    The number of people with COVID-19 in intensive care is stable at 41, with six admissions and six discharges. Of said ICU patients, 24 were admitted for COVID-19-related reasons...

    Quebec reported 26 new COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday, bringing the total deaths to 17,125 since the pandemic began.

    Of those, two were recorded in the last 24 hours, 16 were recorded between two and seven days ago, and eight were recorded over a week ago.

    COVID-19 hospitalizations in the province went down by 24, with 303 entries and 327 discharges. There are now 1,835 people with COVID-19 in Quebec hospitals; 630 were admitted for reasons directly related to the virus, whereas the rest tested positive while seeking treatment for other ailments.

    Meanwhile, there are 41 people with coronavirus in the ICU, 25 of whom were admitted because of COVID-19. It's a decrease of 15, with 11 entries and 26 discharges...

    Quebec reported an additional 12 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, bringing the total to 17,077 since the pandemic began.

    Of those, two deaths were recorded within the last two days, six within the last week and four over a week ago.

    There are currently 1,944 people with COVID-19 in Quebec hospitals, an increase of 10 from the previous day, with 141 entries and 131 discharges.

    Of the hospitalizations, 649 people were admitted for reasons directly related to the virus, while the rest tested positive while seeking treatment for other ailments.

    Meanwhile, there are 52 people with COVID-19 in intensive care, an increase of seven, with 11 entries and four discharges. Of those in the ICU, 32 were admitted because of COVID-19...

    An additional 16 people with COVID-19 have died in Quebec, bringing the total deaths in the province to 17,059 since the pandemic began.

    Two of those deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, 12 in the last week, and two over a week ago.

    On Tuesday, the Quebec Health Ministry also reported a decrease of seven COVID-19 hospitalizations, with 264 entries and 271 discharges.

    There are currently 1,918 people in Quebec hospitals with COVID-19. Of those, 620 were admitted for reasons directly related to the virus, whereas the rest tested positive while seeking treatment for other ailments...

    Quebec public health reported Thursday the number of people who have died with COVID-19 in the province has surpassed 17,000.

    The total now stands at 17,014, after one person died in the last 24 hours, seven between two and seven days ago, and eight before that.

    Meanwhile, hospitalizations decreased. According to Thursday morning's update, 1,925 people are sick with the coronavirus in the province's hospitals -- 610 of whom sought care because of their symptoms.

    That total represents an overall decrease of 17 from Wednesday...

    Quebec logged an additional 24 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total deaths to 16,998 since the pandemic began.

    One of those deaths was recorded in the last 24 hours, while 19 were recorded between two and seven days ago, and four were recorded over a week ago.

    There are 1,942 people with COVID-19 hospitalized in Quebec, a decrease of 24 from the previous day, with 127 entries and 151 discharges. Of those, 612 were admitted for reasons directly related to the virus, while others tested positive at the hospital.

    Meanwhile, 52 people with COVID-19 are in the ICU, an increase of two, with seven admissions and five discharges. Of those, 25 were admitted for reasons directly related to the virus.

    NEW CASES

    The province recorded an additional 1,013 positive COVID-19 PCR tests on Wednesday, bringing the total confirmed infections to 1,223,930 since the pandemic began.

    In addition, 182 positive rapid tests were self-declared through Quebec's online portal. A total of 255,120 positive rapid tests have been reported to date...

    Quebec reported in increase of 24 COVID-19 hospitalizations on Wednesday, for a total of 2,085. There were 164 new entries reported by the public health authority and 140 discharges. Of the total hospitalizations, 651 people were admitted for reasons directly related to the virus, while the others tested positive at the hospital.

    Meanwhile, 62 people with COVID-19 are in intensive care, an increase of four. Of those, 26 were admitted for reasons directly related to the coronavirus.

    Quebec logged 10 more COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total to 16,915 deaths since the pandemic began.

    Four of those deaths were recorded within the last 24 hours, five were recorded between two and seven days ago, and one was recorded over a week ago.
    NEW CASES

    Quebec logged an additional 1,104 positive PCR COVID-19 tests on Tuesday. In addition, 195 positive rapid tests were self-declared through the health ministry's online portal.

    MONTREAL — The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations is increasing across Quebec, but the rise is not as rapid as in previous waves and is not being felt in intensive care units, Health Minister Christian Dubé said Wednesday.

    Health officials reported a rise of 207 COVID-19 patients, for a total of 2,030 — the first time hospitalizations rose above 2,000 since mid-August. They said 595 patients are in hospital because of the disease.

    Hospitalizations are on the rise, Dubé told reporters in Montreal, because there has been a steady increase in infections over the past four weeks, particularly among people 70 and over and among health-care workers...
