  • South Korean soldiers on active duty will be vaccinated against influenza A (H1N1)

South Korean soldiers on active duty will be vaccinated against influenza A (H1N1)
The South Korean soldiers on active duty will be vaccinated against influenza A (H1N1) from Thursday, said Wednesday at a news conference the Ministry of National Defense of South Korea.

A total of 733,000 soldiers, recruits and members of military personnel will be vaccinated against influenza as a possible outbreak of influenza A (H1N1) can spread rapidly among the soldiers, the ministry said.

The military medical personnel, who already were vaccinated in November last year, and the soldiers deployed overseas, about 17,000, are excluded from vaccination.

Since last December have reduced the number of those infected with influenza A (H1N1) in the Army about ten people per week, local media reported.

It was reported a total of 2,106 confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) in the Army, among whom seven are still recovering, according to local press reports. (Xinhua)
