    Swine flu hits ?epidemic proportions?

    LAHORE - Swine flu has reached epidemic proportions in parts of the province, affecting thousands of people in Multan, Bahawalpur and Lahore.
    More than 50 people have so far died since outbreak of the H1N1 in November 2017. Though majority of the confirmed cases and causalities have been reported from South Punjab, the situation is going from bad to worst in Lahore. So far, 125 confirmed cases have been reported with four H1N1-related casualties in Lahore.

      MULTAN: Another two patients who were tested positive for seasonal influenza (H1N1), died at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Nishtar Hospital on Saturday.

      According to an official source, 22-year-old Waseem and 32-year-old Mumtaz Bibi of Khanewal died at the ICU.

      He said that the death toll from the disease at the Nishtar Hospital had risen to 38 and that another seven suspected seasonal influenza patients were brought to the hospital on Saturday...

        Seasonal influenza claims three more lives in Multan

        MULTAN: As many as three patients under treatment for seasonal influenza at Nishtar Hospital, including two women, passed away here on Tuesday, taking the total death toll from the disease in the past month-and-a-half to at least 38.
        The deceased hail from Multan, Khanewal and Layyah.
        Earlier, health department spokesperson Dr Attaur Rehman informed Geo News that 242 cases of seasonal influenza have been reported and presence of H1N1 virus has been confirmed in 120 individuals.
        Seasonal influenza can spread through contact with bacteria discharged by an infected person?s coughing and sneezing.
        Pregnant women, senior citizens, and children are susceptible to the disease.

            Influenza claims two more lives, death toll climbs to 40

            Two more people died on Wednesday of seasonal influenza in Khanewal, which brings the death toll to 40.

            The deceased, identified as Muhammad Wasim and Muhammad Mubeen, hailing from Khanewal, died of the disease at the Nishter Hospital. Their brother, Muhammad Fahim has alo been shifted to the hospital after contracting the disease.

            The mother of the deceased has asked the Punjab CM for financial assistance since her third son is struggling for his life at the hospital.



            Just yesterday, three more people had died owing to the disease, with the province on hold to issue a pandemic alert

              Influenza death toll in Multan reaches 45

              MULTAN: Yet another person succumbed to influenza on Saturday, taking the death toll due to the disease to 45 from December 15, 2017 up till now.

              The influenza patient was being treated at Multan?s Nishtar Hospital, where four new cases of the disease were reported earlier in the day during last 24 hours.

              At least 10 patients were being treated for influenza at the hospital till this report was filed.

              According to a spokesperson of the Multan health department, Dr Aza-ur-Rehman, at least 270 suspected patients have so far been reported for influenza. Out of the count, 134 were tested positive for the disease, he added...

                ?Two died of seasonal flu in January?

                Islamabad-At least two patients died of seasonal influenza while the disease was confirmed in nearly 80 patients during the last month, an official said on Monday.

                The details said as many as 515 suspected samples of seasonal influenza H1N1 were sent to National Institute of Health (NIH) during the last one month and the virus was confirmed in 78 people. The official said that mostly, the patients suffering from the virus were from the twin cities and the NIH was still receiving reports from PIMS and Polyclinic hospitals of Islamabad and allied hospitals of Rawalpindi regarding the ailment. According to the PIMS official Dr Waseem Khawaja, influenza H1N1 virus was confirmed in 17 patients during the last month out of which two patients died of the disease. He said that 5 patients were still admitted in the hospital including two children of 6 years of age.
