A 45-year-old male patient admitted at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) has been tested positive for swine influenza by the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, after which the hospital administration has started medication to staff members who attended the patient during last two days.

The NIH confirmed the positive status of the patient on Thursday afternoon. The patient, who is a doctor by profession, belongs to Gujar Khan, 50 kilometres from Rawalpindi. However, he is posted in Bhakkar, said HFH Infection Control Committee In-charge Dr. Javed Hayat while talking to ?The News? on Friday.

He said that the patient was brought to the HFH with symptoms of swine influenza, commonly known as swine flu. The hospital administration sent his swap sample to the NIH for confirmation on Wednesday.
