Swine Flu Causes Eight Deaths in Nepal

Kathmandu, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) The death toll from an outbreak of swine flu in Nepal today rises to eight, which alerted the authorities to the rapid spread of the disease in recent weeks.
Yam Baral, an official from Pokhara District Public Health Office, told reporters that three people in the territory were killed by H1N1 virus.

Meanwhile, two women aged 37 and 47 died in Jhapa district in July.

The number of people affected by H1N1 is increasing in the country, warned this week the chief of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division of Department of Health Services, Dr. Guna Nidhi Sharma.

The official said that they lack reliable records on the number of infested in Nepal, among other reasons because doctors generally do not recommend the testing of suspected cases.
