    YANGON, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Three people have died of H1N1, influenza virus, so far in Myanmar's Yangon region, Dr. Thar Tun Kyaw, an official from the Ministry of Health and Sports told Xinhua on Wednesday.
    The three reported deaths were from Yangon General Hospital and two other hospitals in North Okkalapa and Insein townships, respectively.
    "A total of eight cases of such virus infections have been detected nationwide after testing specimen as of June 14 and those three deaths were included in the list," he added.

    Six dead so far from H1N1
    The total death toll due to H1N1 is now six, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.

    Among the 48 suspected patients, 12 were confirmed to have suffered from H1N1 influenza virus. Among the six deaths, 5 were from Yangon Region and one was from Sagaing Region. Most of the dead were elderly, too young, suffered hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and chronic respiratory disease.
    Concerning the deaths, a press brief was held in Nay Pyi Taw on June 20.

    "As it is called seasonal influenza, we don't want the public to panic. But, if infected, public need to know what symptoms of H1N1 and should immediately go to the hospital," said Dr. Thida Hla, deputy director-general of the Department of Public Health of the Ministry of Health and Sports.
    According to the data collected till June 20 by the Ministry, 16 were found positive.
    From June to September, this H1N1 usually broke out in every year. It is the time to pay more attention to the influenza.

    The total death toll due to H1N1 is now six, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports. Among the 48 suspected patients, 12 were confirmed to have suffered from H1N1 influenza virus.  Among the six deaths, 5 were from Yangon Region and one was from Sagaing Region.  Most of the dead were elderly, too young, suffered hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and chronic respiratory disease.       Seven out of eight H1N1 deaths are from Ygn: Health authorities

      A total of eight people have died from H1N1 infection across the country as of June 24 and seven of them are from Yangon Region, said Dr Tun Myint, Deputy Director General from Department of Public Health of the region.
      “According to the statistics, we found 174 H1N1 suspects, 35 confirmed H1N1 patients and eight deaths till June 24. Among them, 78 H1N1 suspects, 24 confirmed H1N1 patients and seven deaths are from Yangon Region. One more death is happened in Yangon and it is a one year and three months old child, who died at Yankin Children Hospital, from North Dagon Township,” he said.
      Influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 is a seasonal flu that infects every year and it is also spreading in neighbouring countries this year. Myanmar found 458 flu patients in 2017 and 406 of them were infected with the H1N1 virus. Among those, 38 people died. In 2018, 13 out of 118 flu patients were found infected with H1N1 virus but no one died from the virus, according to the announcement from the Ministry of Health and Sports released on June 20.

        Ten H1N1 flu deaths so far this year: health ministry
        The Ministry of Health and Sports officials on Wednesday announced that the number of people who have died this year as a result of H1N1 influenza in Yangon and Sagaing regions as of Wednesday has risen to 10.

        ?The messages that I want to send to the public is that the spread of H1N1 flu can be prevented. People should be covering their mouth and nose, ideally by coughing or sneezing into their shoulder or elbow, washing their hands frequently with plenty of soap and water, and avoiding public places and crowded areas,? Department of Public Health Director for Health Education and Promotion Dr. Daw Phyu Phyu Aye said.





        ?If symptoms of flu show up, people should get treatment at the nearest health department or hospital,? she added.

        Officials also said that 44 people were confirmed to have been infected by the virus out of 212 suspected patients treated in government hospitals in Myanmar since January this year. The deaths involved nine cases in Yangon Region and one in Sagaing, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.

          Swine Flu Claims 21 Lives In Myanmar

          YANGON,MYANMAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2019 ) :At least 21 people have died in Myanmar due to swine flu in the past two weeks, according to a health ministry official on Tuesday.
          "21 including four children have died of seasonal H1N1 influenza over the past few weeks," said Phyu Phyu Aye, information officer of health and sports ministry. The first death related to the H1N1 virus, widely known as swine flu, was reported on June 19.

          A total of 99 out of more than 340 patients were tested positive for the virus in three regions -- Yangon, Sagaing and Ayeyawaddy, Aye told Anadolu Agency over the phone.
          "Yangon is the worst affected area," she said, adding that 18 victims were from the largest city in the South Asian nation.

          At least 21 people have died in Myanmar due to swine flu in the past two weeks, according to a health ministry official on Tuesday

            H1N1 Death Toll Reaches 26 Nationwide

            YANGON?Twenty-six people nationwide died after contracting the seasonal H1N1 influenza virus between the second week of June and July 3, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
            Yangon had the most fatalities, with 22. In the period, there were 385 suspected flu cases, of which 114 were diagnosed as H1N1, also known as ?swine flu?.
            Ministry Deputy Director Dr. Khin Khin Gyi pointed out that in most cases the flu was not the sole cause of death; rather it was a contributing factor along with other chronic health problems.
            ?More than two-thirds of the victims had chronic health problems. Their immune systems were weak, leaving them vulnerable to infection,? she said.
            ?People suffering from diabetes, hypertension and heart and respiratory problems have a higher risk of death [after contracting H1N1],? she added.

              8 more H1N1 deaths reported in Myanmar

              YANGON, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Eight more people has died of seasonal influenza H1N1 in Myanmar, bringing the total death toll to 29 so far, said a statement from the Health and Sports Ministry late Thursday.
              From Jan. 1 to July 4 this year, Yangon region topped the list with 23 deaths, followed by Ayeyawady region with three deaths, Sagaing region with two deaths and Mon state with one, respectively.
              According to the ministry's figures, 141 people have contracted with influenza virus out of 402 suspected patients.
              Most of them were young children and elderly who had suffered from chronic illnesses.

                Two more people die of influenza H1N1 in Myanmar?s Yangon

                YANGON, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Two more people died of seasonal influenza A (H1N1) pdm 09 in Yangon region, bringing the death toll to 31 in total across Myanmar so far, according to the figures released by the Public Health Department under the Health and Sports Ministry on Tuesday.
                Yangon region topped the list with 25 deaths, followed by Ayeyawady region with three deaths, Sagaing region with two deaths and Mon state with one, respectively.
                From Jan. 1 to July 8, 180 people have contracted with H1N1 influenza virus out of 502 suspected patients.
                Of them, the infections were mostly detected in Yangon region, affecting 108 people in the region, followed by Rakhine state with 15 affected patients and Nay Pyi Taw with 11.
                Total of 52 percent of the affected people are 15 to 65 years old and most of the deaths were young children and elderly who had suffered from chronic illnesses.

                  H1N1 flu death toll at 34 in country so far this year
                  The number of people in Myanmar who have died this year from H1N1 influenza has risen to 34, the Ministry of Health and Sports said on Wednesday.

                  “The spread of H1N1 flu can be prevented. First, people should cover their mouth and nose when they cough or sneeze. Second, they should wash their hands frequently with plenty of soap and water. Third, they should avoid public places and crowded areas,” said Dr. Phyu Phyu Aye, director of Health Education and Promotion at the Department of Public Health.




                  Ministry officials said 186 people were confirmed to have the virus and have been treated at government hospitals in Myanmar this year.

                  The deaths include 27 in Yangon Region, three in Ayeyarwady Region, two in Sagaing Region, one in Bago Region, and one in Mon State, according to the department’s Central Epidemiology Unit.
                  Most of the victims in Yangon were in South Dagon and Hlaing Tharyar townships, which each had 13 H1N1 influenza cases and four deaths, according to the National Health Laboratory.
                  Most of victims had chronic health problems, and weak immune systems. People with a high risk of death from the disease include those who have diabetes, hypertension and respiratory problems. Most of the victims were between 15 and 65 years old.

                    Death toll of H1N1 influenza rises to 37 across Myanmar

                    YANGON, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The death toll caused by A (H1N1) pdm 09 influenza has risen to 37 across Myanmar as of Wednesday, said the figures released by the Public Health Department under the Health and Sports Ministry Thursday.
                    So far, Yangon region registered 29 deaths, followed by Ayeyarwady region with three deaths, Bago region with two, Sagaing region with two and one death in Mon state.
                    Out of 537 suspected patients, 195 people were confirmed to have been affected by the influenza virus across the country.
                    From January 1 to July 10, 116 people were contracted with H1N1 influenza in Yangon region while 16 affected people in Rakhine state and the rest in other regions and states, the department's figures said.
                    The seasonal influenza virus was detected in July 2017 in Myanmar, with 408 people infected, claiming at least 38 lives across the country.

                      41 H1N1-Related Deaths Recorded Nationwide

                      YANGON?Forty-one people nationwide have died after contracting the seasonal H1N1 influenza virus between the second week of June and July 11, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
                      Yangon had the most fatalities, with 33, followed by three in the Irrawaddy Region, two each in the Bago and Sagaing regions and one in Mon State.
                      In the same period, there were 556 suspected flu cases nationwide, of which 208 were diagnosed as seasonal flu. Three flu strains have been found in diagnostic tests?174 cases of H1N1, also known as ?swine flu,? 17 cases of H3N2 and 17 cases of influenza B.
                      Dr. Tun Myint, head of the Yangon Region Health Department, pointed out that in most cases the flu was not the sole cause of death; rather, it was a contributing factor along with other chronic health problems.

                          Swine flu death toll rises to 54 in Myanmar

                          At least 54 people in Myanmar have died from swine flu, a health official said Tuesday, after the H1N1 virus spread to a larger part of the country.
                          The latest outbreak of the virus began nearly a month ago with the first death reported in the country?s largest city, Yangon, on June 19.
                          Phyu Phyu Aye, an information officer at the Health and Sports Ministry, said six more people died in Yangon on Monday, taking the death toll to 54.
                          ?Yangon is still the worst affected area, with 43 causalities,? she told Anadolu Agency by phone.
                          ?H1N1 positive patients were found in three more regions, so the outbreak is happening in six regions.?
                          According to the ministry?s data, 274 out of a total of 671 patients tested positive for the virus in six regions -- Yangon, Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Ayeyarwady and Mon.

                            Thirteen more influenza deaths reported
                            A total of 13 more deaths by A(H1N1) pdm 09 influenza have been reported in Myanmar over the past four days, according to Xinhua.
                            The total death toll rose to 56 as of Tuesday from 43 deaths previously reported on July 13.
                            From January 1 to July 16 this year, Yangon region registered the highest mortality rate of H1N1 seasonal influenza with 43 deaths.






                            In the meantime, four deaths were registered in Ayeyarwaddy region while two each in Bago and Sagaing regions, one in Magway region, three in Mon state and one in Kachin state.

                            A total of 13 more deaths by A(H1N1) pdm 09 influenza have been reported in Myanmar over the past four days, according to Xinhua.

                              296 H1N1 cases confirmed with 59 deaths till July 17
                              Till July 17, there were 707 H1N1 suspects with 296 confirmed infections and 59 deaths across Myanmar, according to data from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

                              Yangon Region saw three more deaths from Thingangyun, Hlegu and Htaukkyant townships respectively.
                              From January to July 17, of 206 influenza-like illness-ILI cases, there were 34 A (H1N1) cases, 12 A (H3N2) cases and eight influenza B cases. Of 504 severe acute respiratory infection-SARI cases, there were 226 A (H1N1) cases, 10 A (H3N2) cases and nine influenza B cases.

                              "Out of 707 people across the country who underwent lab tests, there were 296 confirmed cases and 59 deaths. There were three more deaths in Thingangyun, Hlegu and Htaukkyant townships of Yangon Region. Out of 370 people in Yangon Region who underwent lab tests, there were 169 confirmed cases and 46 deaths. Yangon is still a region that has seen most of deaths," said an official from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

                              Till July 17, there were 707 H1N1 suspects with 296 confirmed infections and 59 deaths across Myanmar, according to data from the Ministry of Health and Sports.
