Quake efforts blamed for rise in snow mishaps

Heavy snow expected from Tuesday

Temperatures rise sharply, reach April highs in some areas

2-5 times more snow than average has fallen in some areas of Japan
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Heavy snowfalls continued to hit the Japanese archipelago on Thursday, with some areas on the Sea of Japan coast so far receiving two to five times more snow than average by this time of year.
Heavy snow has claimed the lives of 103 this winter, topping the 100 mark for the seventh time since the end of World War II, the Fire and Disaster Management Agency stated on Feb. 16.
