TOKYO ?
More than 57% of Japan?s 47 prefectures do not know how many of their medical facilities can treat new influenza A patients who develop severe symptoms, a Kyodo News tally showed Monday. A total of 27 prefectures, including Tokyo and Osaka, failed to report to the health ministry by the Friday deadline the number of patients with the new H1N1 strain of influenza A and medical facilities that can treat such patients with acute symptoms.
Only seven prefectures, including Akita, Tokushima and Okinawa, gave full reports while others gave partial data or refrained from disclosure altogether. The overall lag in information gathering at many of the local governments could mean an increased risk of their failing to find medical facilities to admit the seriously ill in time.http://www.japantoday.com/category/n...ting-hospitals
