    Minister Reports 13 New H1N1 Cases

    Kuala Belait - Thirteen new cases of Influenza A H1N1 in Brunei were confirmed on Wednesday, Minister of Health Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman disclosed yesterday.

    In relation to previous reports of only one to three confirmed cases per day for several months, the minister hence urged the public to continue practising good hygiene and added that H1N1 flu shots will soon be extended to hospitals and health centres throughout the country. He also urged everyone to benefit from the free vaccinations.

    The Minister of Health said this at the launch of Suri Seri Begawan Hospital Customer's Day in Kuala Belait yesterday morning, which also saw the officiation of the hospital's new services such as the CT Scan and Heart Rehabilitation Services building.

    The minister said that with everyone's cooperation and understanding on steps taken by the Ministry of Health to contain the A H1N1 flu, "we are capable of avoiding the second wave of the flu outbreak which the world fears would occur".

    He noted that the objective of the Customer's Day is to establish closer ties between the patients and the public with all hospital staff including specialists, doctors, nurses, health professionals, as well as to promote the new and existing services that are available at the hospital.

    In conjunction with Customer's Day, Pehin Dato Hj Suyoi urged all hospital members to renew their commitment by prioritising the customers and ensuring that all dealings will fulfill patients' expectations. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
