Suspected COVID-19 case reported in southeastern Mongolia

ULAN BATOR, April 9 (Xinhua) -- A new suspected case of COVID-19 has been reported in Mongolia's southeastern province of Dornogovi, the country's National Center for Communicable Disease (NCCD) said on Thursday.
"A suspected case of COVID-19 has been reported and isolated in Zamiin-Uud soum (administrative subdivision) of Dornogovi province," Dulmaa Nyamkhuu, head of the NCCD, told a press conference.
Zamiin-Uud is the most important border crossing between Mongolia and China...

Two more COVID-19 patients recover in Mongolia

ULAN BATOR, April 7 (Xinhua) -- Two more COVID-19 patients in Mongolia have recovered, bringing the total to four, the National Center for Communicable Disease (NCCD) said on Tuesday.
"Two more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital," NCCD head Dulmaa Nyamkhuu said at a press conference.
As of Tuesday, the country has confirmed 15 coronavirus infections, including four foreigners...

The Mongolian Government has taken early and very active measures to prevent and stop an eventual spread of the COVID-19. Besides closing all the educational institutions starting with January 27th and imposing international travel restrictions that are expanding along with the growing number of countries affected by COVID-19 globally, on 13 February 2020 the government also declared state of high alert. To prevent a possible spread of COVID during the Mongolian Lunar New Year (February 24-26, 2020), the Emergency Commission restricted all travel between aimags (provinces), as well as incoming and outgoing flows in the capital city. Ulaanbaatar is by far the biggest urban settlement in Mongolia concentrating almost half of the country’s population...
