Epidemiological comments This duck farm in Yilan County was sampled by the staff of the Local Animal Disease Inspection Authority (LADIA, formerly named as Local Disease Control Centre, LDCC) for active surveillance on 10 January 2019. H7N7 subtype of low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) was detected and confirmed by the National Laboratory, Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI), in the evening of 29 April 2019. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was excluded through an intravenous lethality test (inoculation test) that day. The LADIA implemented movement control on this duck farm and disinfected its neighbouring areas. The LADIA has completed the three-month intensified surveillance which includes clinical examination and sampling of the index farm and all poultry farms (eight chicken farms and 13 duck farms) within 3 km radius of the index farm. All poultry in those farms were clinically healthy and the test results were all negative. Chinese Taipei therefore declares that the event has been resolved.
