Pakistan - Bird flu hits Lahore Zoo (media) - HP H5N8 confirmed by OIE
LAHORE: The avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, is hitting birds at the Lahore Zoo as two of its macaws died of the viral disease recently.
Lahore Zoo Director Hassan Ali told this reporter that a macaw died on Feb 2 and the other on Jan 26. The zoo, according to its director, was now left with three macaws.

The disease has been observed in captive macaws at the Lahore zoo. Movement control inside the zoo/caged area was implemented. Provincial livestock departments have been requested to scale-up field surveillance and reporting activities. The outbreak has concluded. However, general surveillance is ongoing and follow-up reports will be submitted.
