POKHARA: The trade of eggs, meats and poultry has been suspended in the core city area of Pokhara of Kaski district for 10 days after tests found that more chickens died of bird flu.
The District Bird Flu Technical Committee made the decision on Saturday.
The suspension will be effective in wards 1-18 of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City.
Information Officer at the District Livestock Service Office, Thagendra Prasad Aryal, informed that a test found that the cause of the death of 70 chickens at the farm of Dipendra KC in Khaltemasina was bird flu, forcing the Committee to impose the ban.
Earlier, on February 25, ducks at the farm of Mina Pariyar had been found infected with the virus...
The outbreak was detected as a result of post-operative surveillance outside the containment zone of the first outbreak in Khalte masina area. However, the backyard chicken showed no apparent clinical signs and symptoms.
