    The number of people dying from diarrhoea in remote Village Development Committees of Jajarkot district has reached 51 with the death of five more people in the last two days.

    Kalika Shah (7) of Portang-2 died on Saturday morning while Seema Kumari Rokaya (25) of Thalaraikar-9, Kare Bhat Chhetri of Thalaraikar-4, Jayarupa Shahi (40) of Jungathapachaur-3 and Naini Badi (25) of Jungathapachaur-4.

    Many people in Thalaraikar and Jungathapachaur VDCs have been affected by diarrhoea, according to Narendra Shahi, a local school teacher. The VDCs are a three days' walk from district headquarters Khalanga.

    People in more than 16 VDCs in the district, including Chapra, Portang, Suwanauli, Naikbadh and Rokayagaon, have been affected from diarrhoea from the last two months.

    District Public Health Office (DPHO), Jajarkot, has already confirmed the death of 41 persons by the disease. "The number could go up as the data about the deaths in remote VDCs have not arrived yet," an official at the office said.

    The DPHO said the diarrohea outbreak was beyond their control.

    According to District Administration Office, Jajarkot, it had already informed the Ministry of Health and Population about the outbreak.

    Five die of diarrhoea in Salyan

    As many as five people died from diarrhoea in Suikot VDC, Salyan district over the past two days.

    Public Health Office in the district informed that three, Bhim Bahadur Buda, Basanta Bista and Dal Bahadur Bista, who had been ill due to diarrhea, died this morning.

    Two persons had died of the same cause on Saturday.

    Diarrhoea has spread in Suikot VDC-6 and 7 and some adjoining VDCs in the district.

    Health professionals have said that contaminated drinking water is behind the spread of the disease.http://www.nepalmountainnews.com/new...hes-fifty.html
