WB USD 265 million to help check Nepal's poverty, bird flu
NEW DELHI, March 10 (KUNA) -- The World Bank will provide a grant of USD 265 million to Nepal to help alleviate poverty and check the spread of bird flu in the Himalayan Kingdom.
Two agreements have been signed between Nepal's Finance Ministry and World Bank's Nepal office in this regard, news agency Press Trust of India reported Saturday from capital Kathmandu.
The World Bank assistance for poverty alleviation will improve access to income-generating sub-projects and community infrastructure in Nepal, the news agency said.
The project will be implemented in 25 districts across Nepal.
The bird flu control project aims to minimise the threat posed to citizens of Nepal from avian influenza infection by controlling such infections among birds, especially domestic poultry, the news agency said.(end) dr.
