    Article registration :2021-1-11-29 10:06

[Voice=Newspim] Reporter Baek Un-hak = Chungbuk Province announced on the 29th that H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza virus was identified in wild bird feces collected from Geumjeong Reservoir in Saenggeuk-myeon, Eumseong-gun on the 22nd.

This place is 2.6 km from the farm where the 4th AI occurred, and 3.9 km from the farm where the 7th broiler chicken occurred.

It is the eighth detection of wild birds in the country this winter and the first detection of wild birds in North Chungcheong Province.

North Chungcheong Province has taken additional measures to restrict movement of chickens, except for farmhouse 30, located in an area overlapping with the existing Geumwang quarantine zone, among 33 poultry farms in the wild bird monitoring area (10km radius) centered on the virus detection point. did

The restriction on movement of farmhouse #3 within the quarantine zone will be lifted if there is no abnormality in the results of observation and inspection after the 13th of the following month, which is 21 days from the sample collection date.

It is known that there were no unusual findings as a result of emergency clinical observation of all livestock breeding in the area.

In addition, a detailed examination is currently in progress to confirm the presence of infection.

Chungbuk Province issued an administrative order prohibiting access to passageways such as fishing and walking trails leading to the antigen detection site within a 500m radius of the detection area.

Through the installation and operation of the control post, access to the general public, such as fishing and visitors, other than those engaged in livestock farming, was completely controlled.

In order to prevent the spread of the road around the detection site and nearby farms, 12 disinfection vehicles, 2 wide area control devices, and 3 sprinklers are mobilized for intensive disinfection.

An official from North Chungcheong Province said, "As of November, the number of migratory birds in the province decreased by 34% compared to the same period of the previous year, but it is worth noting that the number of Auridae birds increased by 22%.

'High pathogenic AI emergency'... Jeollanam-do migratory birds doubled last year

Jeollanam-do issues a risk advisory by the end of December, strengthens response to spread prevention
    migratory bird

(Muan = Yonhap News) Reporter Woon-chang Yeo = Concerns about the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) are growing as the number of migratory birds more than twice as large as last year was recently observed in the migratory bird colonies in Jeollanam-do.

According to Jeollanam-do on the 29th, there are 15 winter migratory birds in the province, including Yeongam Lake, Suncheon Bay, Haenam Gocheonam Lake, and Gangjin Saesae Lake.

Recently, 173,000 migratory winter birds, including sakura, mallard, big goose, and black-billed duck, were observed here.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of individuals increased by 2.2 times and 5.1 times from the previous month.

In particular, it was found that 16% of a total of 1,079,000 domestic animals were introduced to Jeonnam due to climate change.

Last year, it doubled compared to Jeollanam-do, which accounted for 8% of the nation's total of 945,000.

Judging by mandarin ducks infected with H5N1 type, the quarantine authorities believe that this winter migratory birds are migrating from the north to the west coast belt connected to Jeju Island.

It is also believed that the outbreak of highly pathogenic AI in Korea this winter was caused by extensive contamination of the farm area by migratory birds along the route of the migratory birds.

If the farmer neglects basic quarantine rules such as access control, disinfection, and changing boots, additional outbreaks are possible at any time.

Accordingly, Jeollanam-do issued a high-pathogenic AI risk advisory on the same day.

The risk advisory period is until December 26, and during this period, countermeasures against the spread of highly pathogenic AI will be strengthened.

This is because 40 cases, or 38%, of a total of 109 highly pathogenic AI cases that occurred nationwide last winter occurred in December.

In Jeollanam-do, 9 out of 21 cases, or 43%, were concentrated in December.

During this period of high risk of outbreaks, Jeollanam-do uses dedicated public officials to intensively manage the implementation of quarantine rules at farms.

The implementation of basic quarantine rules, such as prohibition of outside vehicles and outsiders, additional disinfection of high-pressure sprayers at the entrance of the farm, and application of quicklime at the entrance of the farm, will be strengthened more than twice compared to usual, and this will be confirmed with videos, photos, and farm CCTV.

In particular, the poultry breeding farmer will make a special check on whether the rules that must be observed are followed, and the violative farmer will take strict measures with zero tolerance in accordance with the relevant laws.

The current preventive killing standards will be maintained until December 10th.

Jeon Do-hyeon, head of the Animal Quarantine Department in Jeollanam-do, said, "The H5N1 virus is the most contagious among the serotypes that have been prevalent so far, so we need to do a much stronger quarantine than usual."

As of this day, a total of eight highly pathogenic AI cases have occurred in quail and duck farms across the country. By region, there are four cases each in Jeonnam and North Chungcheong Province.
