Seoul city confirms virus found in bird near Han River as highly pathogenic

SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Yonhap) -- The Seoul metropolitan government said Tuesday that the avian influenza (AI) virus found in a dead bird in the capital city last week has been confirmed to be a highly pathogenic strain.
The city cited the outcome of an examination by the National Institute of Environmental Research, saying that a dead white-fronted goose, found near Han River on Feb. 15, was found to have been infected with the highly pathogenic H5N8 virus.
It marked the second AI infection in Seoul this year...
