The director of the Department of Animal Disease Control at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Quarantine headquarters announced today the results of genetic analysis of the highly pathogenic AI (H5N6) virus in Korea at the Sejong Administration Office in the morning of the 14th.

The bird flu virus (AI) in Korea is rapidly spreading, and the analysis of the highly pathogenic AI H5N6 virus gene in Korea is similar to the H5N6 virus that was popular in Guangdong province in China.

The director of animal disease management at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Quarantine headquarters announced today the results of a genetic analysis that analyzed the total of 106 H5N6 viruses, which are currently separated through a briefing at the Sejong government office in the morning of the 14th.

The domestic H5N6 virus was estimated to have flown into the wild in the winter, when wild birds infected with H5N6 in Guangdong Province in China moved to breeding sites in Siberia and northeastern China, and cross-infected wild birds arrived here this winter.

The 106 viral genotypes analyzed so far belong to five genotypes, two of which are C1, two are C2, nine are C3, 59 are C4, and 16 are C5.

Of the domestic H5N6 viruses, C1 and C2 were 98.42 ~ 99.93% homologous with the Chinese H5N6 virus and were analyzed as the same genotype.

The C3-C5 type showed some differences from the PA gene compared to the Chinese H5N6 virus, and the PA gene was presumed to be derived from a low-pathogenic AI virus in wild birds.

In theory, there are six types, but in Korea there are five of the six. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Livestock Food and Livestock Food and Drug Administration plans to continuously monitor one of the six unidentified types or identify another genotype.

In China, 16 people were infected with the H5N6 virus from 2014 to November 23, and 10 of them died. AI can spread through the eyes, nose, mouth, and respiratory tract with direct contact with the virus.

"The possibility of H5N6 virus infection in Korea is very low," the CDC said. In addition, the anti-viral drugs such as Tamiflu, which are used for AI prevention and treatment, have no change in the resistance gene and can be used for human infection.

An official at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Food and Beverage said, "Most of the cases are infected by direct contact with dust, etc., in the process of catching chickens." Of the 10 deaths, 9 are known to be infected in the process of touching dead chickens. "http://www.kns.tv/news/articleView.html?idxno=265505
