  • The Gyeongnam Province, which remained a clean area for bird flu, fell apart.

The Gyeongnam Province, which remained a clean area for bird flu, fell apart.

Gyeongnam provincial government said on June 6, "We have found a large goney that died at the Upo Wetland in Changnyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, and tested it with the National Institute of Environmental Research and found H5N6 type highly pathogenic avian influenza." The H5N6 strain of avian influenza is the same type of highly pathogenic avian influenza that spreads throughout the country except for the recent Yeongnam.

Within a 10-km radius of the site where the dead large swan was found, 45 farmhouses have raised about 1.88 million poultry including 19.3 million chickens and 50,000 ducks. As a result, Gyeongsangnam-do has set up five control stations and set the entire area within a radius of 10 km. They also controlled the general public access to the Upo Wetlands and prohibited the import and export of 45 poultry farms.

The Toki Restoration Center, which raises 171 Toki, a natural monument No. 198, near Upo Swamp, has nine control stations to control entry and exit routes. In addition, two bullet holes were placed on the center to prevent migratory birds from approaching in the air. The Ramsar Environmental Foundation Opening Ceremony of Gyeongsangnam-do, which was scheduled to be held near the Upo Wetland on May 9, was postponed indefinitely.

Gyeongsangnam-do said, "To prevent wild birds from approaching the pond, individual farmers should install a net and thoroughly disinfect them."

As of June 6, 29 cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza were reported in seven cities and provinces except the Yeongnam region, and about 440,600 poultry were disposed of. http://www.hani.co.kr/arti/society/a...8.html?_fr=mt2
