- Up to 18 January 2013 a total of 76 poultry died in the affected area.
- Trace-back investigations revealed that there have been poultry deaths in the area from 14 January 2013 although they were not reported immediately to the local veterinary authorities.
- The disease was confirmed through real-time PCR at the National Veterinary Laboratory on 16 January 2013 when four carcasses were positive to tests.
- Subsequently, the disease was confirmed by HSADL (Bhopal, India) on 31 January 2013.
