Arab meeting to discuss bird flu

Cairo, March 12, (BNA) Arab Health and Agriculture ministers meeting to be held on Thursday in Cairo, is expected to discuss the bird flu epidemic.
The meeting will be chaired by Kuwait's Minister of Health, Shaikh Ahmed Al Sabah. Head of the Arab Health General Secretariat.
Dr. Hussain Hmooda, said in a statement that the meeting is being held following a proposal by the Arab League Secretary General, Amr Mussa, to place an Arab work plan, to combat this epidemic.
This will comprise a number of aspects that include monitoring the problem and locating it with transparency following which the appropriate actions will be taken.
Moreover, an Arab fund is also to be established to support those effected by the epidemic and to find the antidote for the disease, and supply it to farmers in effected countries.
Dr. Hmooda in a statement to journalists. transmitted by the Middle East News Agency, said that the joint meeting will present its decisions to the upcoming Arab Summit in Sudan, to adopt an Arab joint action to combat this epidemic.
