    PESHAWAR:

The Pakistan Chest Society (centre) has demanded the government set up bird-flu isolation units in hospitals throughout the province in order to prevent maximum hazardous of the disease.

This demand was made by PCS (centre) Dr Mukhtiar Zaman during a press conference.

Muhammad Ishtiaq Durrani, who was suffered from bird-flu along with his two brother Muhammad Ilyas Durrani and Muhammad Idress in November last year, was also present at the press conference.

Regarding the preventive measures, he said that the government had promised to set up isolation units in the hospital, but it was not materialized yet by the government.

He said he made a PC-1 regarding the equipment and other stuff for bird-flu isolation unit, despite the fact, the government was not determined to set up the units, in the hospitals throughout the province.

It was also matter of grave concern that there were not available avian-flu vaccines in all over the country, through which control the spreading the disease, he added.

According the World health organization (WHO) survey, in 2007, he said more than five cases of avian-flu had registered, out of which, two died and three patients recovered.

He rapped the government for the not establishing any isolation bird-flu units in the hospitals.

'About 284 people have been affected from avian-flu all over the world," he maintained.
