    Tuesday, September 03, 2013 - Karachi?Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) knows no boundaries to make the citizens sick because those assigned the responsibilities to eliminated the nurseries of the mosquitoes and ensure the citizens stay safe and healthy had either not worked honestly or had no scientific idea as how to deal with the cumbersome situation. The only solution that the authorities of Sindh health department had discovered so far was to continue with the fumigation spray campaigns, not knowing that the use of the chemical for many years had helped the mosquitoes to acquire resistance against that chemical.

    Karachi University Pro Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. of Microbiology Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi told Pakistan Observer that carrying out fumigation campaigns was not effective because of certain reasons and that the use of chemical should be restricted only to areas where from cases of dengue had reported. Randomized spray of chemical was a serious hazard to the lives of people as they are repeatedly exposed to the chemical.The chemical used in fumigation was being absorbed in vegetables, poultry, grains, beef, veal, mutton and milk that remained opened and were not covered and intake and consumption of such products was creating direct health concern to the consumers...
