    The isolated Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan has reported its first case of the coronavirus after a US tourist tested positive, the prime minister said Friday.

    The tiny, land-locked country, famous for measuring Gross National Happiness has emerged as a popular tourist destination in recent years.

    But the government immediately shut borders to foreign visitors for two weeks in an effort to limit the impact of a disease that has wreaked havoc in more developed countries around the world.

    The 76-year-old man arrived in Bhutan from India on March 2, and was admitted to hospital on March 5 with a fever, where he tested positive for COVID-19, the office of Prime Minister Lotay Tshering said in a Facebook post...

    Guwahati: Bhutan has reported its second case of coronavirus infection -- the partner of the first COVID-19 patient -- on Friday morning.

    The country's first COVID-19 patient, a 76-year-old US tourist, tested positive on March 5. He was repatriated to the US last week.

    According to a press release from Bhutan PM Lotay Tshering's office, the test was carried out as part of the quarantine process where everybody gets checked to determine the status before the release. The three primary contacts -- the partner, guide and driver -- finish their quarantine period on Friday...

      The Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan on Saturday confirmed the first two cases of COVID-19 detected in Bhutanese nationals—both students in the capital Thimphu, who had recently returned from studying overseas. The students became the third and fourth confirmed novel coronavirus patients in the remote Himalayan nation.

      “A total of 58 tests were performed on 28 March 2020 at the Royal Center for Disease Control, Thimphu,” the office of Prime Minister Dr. Lotay Tshering said in a public statement on Saturday. “One tested positive. The positive case is a student in facility quarantine and is now shifted to the isolation ward, Thimphu.”...

              National situational update on COVID-19
              Data as of 4th June 2020

              Highlights:

              1. Two more individuals are being declared recovered taking the total recovered to 11. They have both tested negative on RT-PCR upon completing the two weeks de-isolation period.

              2. Two individuals have been moved from an isolation to de-isolation facility upon testing negative twice, taking the total under de-isolation to 16.

              3. One new case have been confirmed in the last 24 hours taking the total positive cases in the country to 48, and total under isolation to 21. The individual who tested positive is a Bhutanese male returning from the middle east.
