Swine fever-infected wild boars on steady rise in S. Korea

SEOUL, Dec. 7 (Yonhap) -- The number of wild boars infected with the deadly African swine fever (ASF) virus has been continuously increasing in South Korea despite a two-month hiatus from local farms, data showed Saturday.
The total number of wild boars infected with the virus here has reached 39 since the first such case was reported in October, according to local quarantine authorities.
The animal disease struck South Korea for the first time at a farm bordering North Korea on Sept. 17.
So far, the country has confirmed 14 cases of ASF at local farms in total, although the last case from domesticated pigs was reported on Oct. 9...

Two more African swine fever cases confirmed in wild boars

SEOUL, Dec. 11 (Yonhap) -- Two more dead wild boars have tested positive for the African swine fever virus, raising the number of confirmed cases in South Korea to 43, a state-run research institute said Wednesday.
The two carcasses were found in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, northwest of Seoul, the previous day, according to the National Institute of Environmental Research.
