      pakistan
      Monday Jul 19 2021

Indus Hospital's Dr Bari says COVID-19 situation has gone out of control in Karachi.
Officials say there has been a rise in number of sick children in government hospitals of Karachi.
Officials say coronavirus infections are also on the rise among doctors and medical staff.

Doctors and health experts urged the government to impose a health emergency in Karachi as hospitals run out of beds to accommodate coronavirus patients.

According to Geo News, various hospitals in Karachi are running out of space due to the fast-spreading Delta variant cases in the financial capital of the country.

The Indus Hospital management told Geo News that their coronavirus ward and emergency has been filled with COVID-19 patients.

Pakistan’s active COVID-19 cases cross 50,000-mark amid SOP violations during Eid
Positivity rate jumps to 6.3%, vaccination centres reopen after closure for a day
Published: July 22, 2021 18:16 Zubair Qureshi, Correspondent

Islamabad: With little regard for COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), people across Pakistan spent the second day of Eid Al Adha in partying, sight-seeing and picnicking, three important rituals associated with the religious festival.

While doing so, they ignored the caution by the health authorities that this Eid could prove fatal with regard to spread of COVID-19 across the country.

The cases are continuing to pile up because of SOP violations as people visited cattle markets to buy sacrificial animals and shopping centres without taking precautionary measures.

This is quite risky and could ruin all the efforts the health teams made in the past to check spread of COVID-19, said the District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia.

In Islamabad alone, the positivity rate stood at 8.96 per cent which is the highest in last few months, said Dr Zia...
