VRE epidemic at Morges Hospital (EHC)

    STATUS

    Announced on:
    April 9, 2024

    Last updated:
    April 9, 2024 - 5:12 p.m.

An epidemic is underway in a sector of the Medicine Department of Morges Hospital (EHC) with several cases detected since January 2024.

The HPCi Vaud cantonal unit recommends screening upon admission to hospitalization:
    • Any patient coming from the EHC Medicine Department.
    • Any patient who has been hospitalized in the EHC Department of Medicine since January 2024.

While awaiting the results, implement Additional Contact Measures (MAC).
Screening is done by rectal smear with visible fecal matter (colored smear).
For patients who have had contact with a patient colonized by VRE, upon transfer to another establishment, establish MACs and continue current screenings or schedule screening on D0, D7 and D14.
