      December 3, 2020 4:25

On the 2nd, a chicken was found dead at a poultry farm in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, and as a result of genetic testing, "H5 type" avian influenza virus was detected. In Miyazaki Prefecture, infection with avian influenza virus has been confirmed one after another from the 1st, and this is the third case.
According to Miyazaki Prefecture, on the afternoon of the 2nd, 72 chickens were reported dead at a poultry farm in Miyakonojo City, which raises about 36,000 chickens.

Genetic testing revealed the "H5" avian influenza virus, and the prefecture has begun disposing of approximately 36,000 chickens at this poultry farm.

According to the prefecture, there are a total of 94 chicken farms within a 10km radius of this poultry farm, where the movement and export of chickens and eggs are restricted, and about 4.38 million chickens are bred.

Bird flu in Gojo, Nara Prefecture

Chickens were found dead one after another at a poultry farm in Gojo City, Nara Prefecture, and the avian influenza virus was detected.
Nara Prefecture has decided to dispose of about 80,000 chickens in this poultry farm.

According to Nara Prefecture and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, on the morning of the 5th, a poultry farm in Gojo City contacted the prefecture's Livestock Hygiene Service Center saying "30 chickens are dead."
When 13 birds, including 2 dead birds in Nara prefecture, were subjected to PCR tests, "H5 type" avian influenza virus was detected.
It seems to be a highly pathogenic virus with a high case fatality rate, so the country will investigate further.
In response to this, Nara Prefecture set up a countermeasures headquarters and decided to dispose of about 83,000 chickens at this poultry farm.

Approximately 134,000 bird flu birds will be disposed of at a poultry farm in Mihara, Hiroshima

              December 7, 2020

Chickens were found dead one after another at a poultry farm in Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and avian influenza virus was detected as a result of inspection. Hiroshima Prefecture plans to dispose of approximately 134,000 chickens from this poultry farm.

According to Hiroshima Prefecture, on the 6th, a poultry farm in Mihara City contacted me that "11 chickens are dead."

When the prefecture conducted a simple test, a positive reaction was obtained, and as a result of further detailed tests, a highly pathogenic "H5 subtype" avian influenza virus with a high mortality rate was detected before dawn on the 7th.

In response to this, Hiroshima Prefecture held a meeting of the countermeasures headquarters at 6:30 am and decided to dispose of about 134,000 chickens such as this poultry farm.

Since last month, avian influenza virus has been detected in poultry farms in five prefectures, Kagawa, Fukuoka, Hyogo, Miyazaki, and Nara.

Bird flu spreads to Okayama, with 640,000 chickens to be culled
                      Dec 11, 2020

Okayama – The Okayama Prefectural Government announced Friday an outbreak of bird flu believed to be highly pathogenic at a chicken farm in the city of Mimasaka in the prefecture.

All chickens at the farm, totaling about 640,000 heads, will be culled to stem the spread of the infection. The culling will be one of the largest in a single bird flu outbreak case in Japan this year.

It is the first time this year that the disease has been found at a chicken farm in Okayama, which became the ninth prefecture in Japan to report a farm outbreak of bird flu apparently of a highly pathogenic strain following the prefectures of Kagawa, Fukuoka, Hyogo, Miyazaki, Nara, Hiroshima, Oita and Wakayama.

After receiving a report of suspected bird flu infection at the farm in Mimasaka on Thursday, the Okayama government conducted simple tests and found positive cases there. Genetic tests found Friday morning that the bird flu is very likely to be highly pathogenic...
