The IZS delle Venezie, headquarters of the National Reference Center for Avian Influenza, has confirmed its positivity for H7 flu virus on samples taken in two turkey farms, mixed sex meat line, located in the Province of Treviso, Veneto Region. The Directorate General for Animal Health and Veterinary Medicines announced this in a report to the Veterinary Services and the European Commission.
The animals present on the farms are male turkeys, meat line, which have shown slight clinical signs of disease in the absence of abnormal mortality; The phylogenetic analysis of the virus is underway to establish the examination of the pathotype and the neuroaminidase which, from the first results and based on the clinical signs, seems to belong to a low pathogenic strain (LPAI).
As required by Legislative Decree no. 9/2010, the Veterinary Services of the Ulss 2 have adopted the foreseen sanitary measures, in particular the seizure of the farms, the establishment of a 1 km radius restriction zone, in which there are no farms nor agricultural slaughtering plants , and the start of the killing and destruction procedures of the birds present.
