- Veterinarians in the equine hospital think that the vaccine may be ineffective because horses are kept going with very heavy exercises after vaccination.

- Turkey has not provided any information to the OIE on equine influenza since at least 1996.
- Since this is the first time that equine influenza is identified in the history of the country, the reason for notification as first occurrence applies to the country but the event is in fact circumscribed to a zone.
