What does the construction of a 12 km fence do other than to create some jobs?
Pigs are very mobile and will easily run around this little impediment. Moreover, they already have, as the infections within Brandenburg date back to July.
The authorities seem just as ineffectual in this instance as they have proven to be in addressing the Covid pandemic.
This is not good for our social cohesion and political harmony, irrespective of the economic and health aspects.

So far there have been 124 positively confirmed cases in the wild boar population in Germany. In Germany the domestic pig population is still free of ASF.

Positiver Befund der Afrikanischen Schweinepest (ASP) beim Wildschwein in Sachsen. Damit ist ein zweites Bundesland an der Grenze zum Nachbarland Polen betroffen.

      Further ASF cases confirmed

The National Reference Laboratory for African Swine Fever (ASP) - the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI) - today confirmed the official suspicion of ASF in three other wild boars. All three finds are fallen game from the first core area in the Oder-Spree district around Neuzelle. So there are a total of 127 confirmed ASF cases in wild boar in the state of Brandenburg:
Location Number of confirmed ASF cases in wild boars (as of November 5, 2020)
      Spree-Neisse district 14th
      Oder-Spree district 106
      District of M?rkisch-Oderland 7th
State of Brandenburg as a whole 127
The first ASF outbreak in wild boars was officially recorded in the state of Brandenburg on September 10, 2020.
The African swine fever is an infectious systemic disease of swine (domestic and wild pigs), which is almost always fatal and incurable. There is no way to protect the pigs with preventive vaccination. The disease can be transmitted directly from animal to animal or indirectly via contaminated objects (clothing, shoes, vehicles) and food to other areas by humans. ASF is not contagious or dangerous for humans or other animal species.

        Enfin, cela est ?crit :

"Il s'agit de cr?er des ?zones blanches?, ou des zones de 5 km autour des 2 zones int?rieures."
        https://www.pigprogress.net/Health/A...n=pig_progress

une zone blanche au niveau de la fronti?re polonaise, cela n'aurait pas ?t? bien plus simple? En tout cas, on ne lit rien sur le descriptif des souches de ces cas .

Brandenburg confirms eight more ASF finds in wild boars. Additional premium for wild boars from the buffer zone.

The Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI) on the island of Reims, the National Reference Laboratory for African Swine Fever, officially confirmed the suspicion of African Swine Fever (ASF) in eight other wild boars today (November 9th, 2020). All animals come from the first core area in the Oder-Spree district.

A total of 142 ASF finds now

According to the responsible consumer protection ministry in Potsdam, this increases the total number of ASF-positive finds in Brandenburg to 141. A total of 142 infected wild boars were found across Germany, together with the individual find in the Saxon district of G?rlitz.

Selling premium for wild boars from the buffer zone

In order to further contain the African swine fever, the Brandenburg Ministry of Agriculture is paying additional sales premiums from today (November 9th, 2020) for killed and unmarketable wild boar from the buffer zones of the ASF areas. For this purpose, the districts have set up collection points together with the state forestry company and other private and municipal forestry companies. The given wild boars are sampled for ASF and then disposed of harmlessly.

African swine fever: Searching for fallen game in the district of G?rlitz produced two further positive findings

                      11/15/2020

The measures to combat African swine fever (ASF) are ongoing in the G?rlitz district. After the restriction zones were defined, the search for dead wild boars has been focused and intensified since November 11, 2020 (fall game search). The aim of the game hunt is to determine the extent of the actual infection process. Currently, 11 search teams with over 150 people were in action in the endangered area in the district of G?rlitz.

Several dead wild boars were found during the fall game search. Every animal found is sampled and tested for the African swine fever virus. In addition to several wild boars that tested negative, the Friedrich-Loeffler Institute detected the ASF virus in two samples over the weekend. The finds are two bone finds, which were in the immediate vicinity. The site is located in the municipality of Podrosche near the Polish border and approx. 8 km from the first outbreak in Pechern / Krauschwitz.
