Almost 4,000 pigs put down due to African swine fever outbreak in Ukraine 23:20, 27 July 2020
A farm in Kyiv region's Bila Tserkva district has been forced to euthanize almost 4,000 pigs amid a sudden outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) to avoid the spread of a disease that does not affect humans, while poses great risk to pig population.
The report by the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection says at least two pigs at the farm died of the ASF, as per veterinary post-mortem examination.
The farm premises, as well as the entire village hosting the business and a number of neighboring settlements, were put on quarantine on July 23...
