    African swine fever kills 61 pigs in northern Namibia-gov't

    WINDHOEK (Reuters) - Northern Namibia has been hit by an outbreak of African swine fever that has so far killed 61 pigs and infected nearly 200 animals, a government veterinary official said Tuesday.

        Togo reports an outbreak of African swine fever


        LOME (Reuters) - Togo reported an outbreak of African swine fever in a farm northwest of the capital Lome, where 44 pigs have died of the disease since April 18.

          African swine fever kills 200 pigs in Amathole

          More than 200 pigs have died in the Amathole area since the outbreak of African swine fever a month ago, the agriculture department said on Wednesday.

          The director of animal health at the department, Dr Mpho Maja, said the pigs that had died were among about 50,000 pigs belonging to the residents of five different villages in the rural area outside Butterworth.
