Adam went through a number of tests to figure out what was wrong with his skin. The veterinarian and animal dermatologist diagnosed him with an allergy to humans.
?At first I thought it was flees, then we thought it was just his bad health. We finally took him to get allergy tested and that is when we found out he was allergic to people and lots of other things,? says Herman.
The allergy to humans was a result of an autoimmune disorder. Adam?s body developed a ?self-allergy? to the ?glue? that held his skin cells together. Adam?s allergy to human dander is pretty common.
