Tunisian Sheep Struck Down by Disease

Yesterday, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment released a statement reporting that 3,482 sheep have been diagnosed with Sheep and Goats Disease [more commonly known by its French acronym PPR] throughout June and July. According to the release, 55 sheep have died, and 77 have shown serious symptoms of the disease.
The World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) first released a report asserting that sheep were infected with PPR on August 1st. According to OIE the disease is characterized by lesions on the mouth, diarrhea, and a high fever. These symptoms are often followed by pneumonia and death.
