Health Minister Imed Hammemi said on Monday that five cases of deaths from the H1N1 flu virus were recorded from 7 to 13 December, including two pregnant women, a diabetic woman and a 3-month-old infant. .

He added that 20 other cases of this virus have been recorded since the cold snap that has settled, stating that the current health situation is "serious" and "serious".
Speaking at a press briefing at the ministry's headquarters, the minister said that his department has set up a crisis unit to monitor the epidemiological situation of the flu since 7 December, the date on which the first case of death was recorded.

According to him, the rate of consultations for influenza is currently estimated at 6.5% of the overall rate of consultations, which requires, he said, more vigilance on the part of stakeholders.

"This rate should not exceed 10%," he stressed, emphasizing the role of the media to alert citizens to the seriousness of the situation.

And add that it is necessary to monitor the symptoms of this virus, especially among the poor categories including pregnant women, the elderly, children and people with chronic diseases.
Despite the increase in temperatures, he said, the number of cases of the H1N1 virus could increase, calling for the need to take the necessary precautions and to vaccinate.
