A first case of influenza H1N1 was confirmed on Thursday at La Reunion. The child was hospitalized for a fever accompanied with respiratory difficulties and with cough. The medical tests revealed that this infant contracted the virus H1N1 while he did not leave the Island. The evolution of its state of health is favourable, according to the agency of health of Indian Ocean which adds in a press release that « the child should go out of the hospital very shortly ».
Reunion comes back for the period of circulation of the influenzal viruses. This first case shows that the virus of influenza A is present on the island of Meeting and in the Western zone of Indian Ocean. Cases of influenza A pandémique (H1N1) were besides confirmed in the island Maurice.

The Agency of Health Indian Ocean reminded of some recommendations to protect itself against influenza A. The systematic measurements of hygiene consist of the frequent washing of hands and disinfection with a hydro-alcoholic resolution.
