    Weekly Updates on Epidemics in Nigeria: as at 25th May, 2012
    So far in 2012 as at 18th May a total of 32 Wild Polio Virus (WPV) and one circulating Vaccine-derived Polio Virus (cVDPV2) have been recorded in 10 States.

        The MOH website was down for the past few days and has reappeared, but it seems that all content from October 13 2010 to June 13 2012 has vanished.

          Weekly Epidemiology Report update: Week 27 as at 13th June 2012

          In 2012 as at 6th July, a total of 49 Wild Polio Virus (WPV) and one circulating Vaccine-derived Polio Virus (cVDPV2) were recorded in 10 States.

          As at 13th July 2012, a total of 933 suspected cases of Lassa fever with 147 laboratory confirmed and 93 deaths (CFR 9.97%) were reported from 23 States. Between weeks 1- 27 2012, 322 suspected cases of Cholera and 4 deaths (CFR 1.24%) were reported, while for Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM), a total of 917 suspected cases with 9 laboratory-confirmed and 57 deaths (CFR 6.22%) were reported.

          In 2012 (weeks 1-27), a total of 7371 suspected measles cases, 466 laboratory-confirmed and 102 deaths (CFR, 1.38%) were reported. No case of Guinea worm disease was recorded between weeks 1 ? 27 2012.

            Weekly Epidemiology Report update: Week 28 as at 20th June 2012 In 2012 as at 13th July, a total of 52 Wild Polio Virus (WPV) and one circulating Vaccine-derived Polio Virus (cVDPV2) were recorded in 10 States.

            As at 20th July 2012, a total of 933 suspected cases of Lassa fever with 147 laboratory-confirmed and 93 deaths (CFR 9.97%) were reported from 23 States. Between weeks 1- 28 2012, 335 suspected cases of Cholera and 4 deaths (CFR 1.19%) were reported, while for Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM), a total of 922 suspected cases with 9 laboratory-confirmed and 57 deaths (CFR 6.18%) were reported.

            In 2012 (weeks 1-28), a total of 7434 suspected measles cases, 466 laboratory-confirmed and 102 deaths (CFR, 1.37%) were reported. No case of Guinea worm disease was recorded between weeks 1 ? 28 2012. click here

              As at 27th July 2012, a total of 933 suspected cases of Lassa fever with 147 laboratory-confirmed and 93 deaths (CFR 9.97%) were reported from 23 States. Between weeks 1- 29 2012, 339 suspected cases of Cholera and 4 deaths (CFR 1.18%) were reported, while for Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM), a total of 935 suspected cases with 13 laboratory-confirmed and 57 deaths (CFR 6.10%) were reported.

              In 2012 (weeks 1-29), a total of 7550 suspected measles cases, 466 laboratory-confirmed and 102 deaths (CFR, 1.35%) were reported. A total of 60 Guinea worm disease rumours (later confirmed negative) were recorded between weeks 1 ? 29 2012. Click

                In 2012 as at 27th July, a total of 57 Wild Polio Virus (WPV), one ambiguous Vaccine-derived Polio Virus (aVDPV2) and one circulating Vaccine-derived Polio Virus (cVDPV2) were recorded in 11 States.

                As at 3rd August 2012, a total of 934 suspected cases of Lassa fever with 147 laboratory-confirmed and 93 deaths (CFR 9.97%) were reported from 24 States. Between weeks 1- 30 2012, 340 suspected cases of Cholera and 4 deaths (CFR 1.18%) were reported, while for Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM), a total of 951 suspected cases with 13 laboratory-confirmed and 57 deaths (CFR 5.99%) were reported.

                In 2012 (weeks 1-30), a total of 7648 suspected measles cases, 471 laboratory-confirmed and 102 deaths (CFR, 1.33%) were reported. A total of 60 Guinea worm disease rumours (later confirmed negative) were recorded between weeks 1 ? 30 2012. Click

                   As at October 19, Nigeria has 98 cases of wild poliovirus (WPV) in 11 States compared to 46 cases in 8 States for the same period in 2011. 5 new WPV cases were reported in Week 42. WPV1 in Wurno LGA Sokoto State, 1 WPV1 in Zaria LGA Kaduna State, 1 WPV1 in Batsari LGA Katsina State and 2 WPV1 in Kibiya and Minjibir LGA Kano State. Nigeria contributes 95% to the polio burden in WHO- Africa Region. The October State Immunization Polio Days (SIPDs) conducted by NPHCDA and supported by UNICEF and other Partner Agencies was concluded in the first week of the October covering 12 States (including Taraba State). According to Independent Monitoring Data (outside Household) the coverage for initial 268 Local Government Areas (LGAs) is 94.1%.
                   The cumulative suspected measles cases from week 1 ? 42 2012, is 8,788 with 614 Laboratory confirmed and 106 deaths (CFR 1.26%).
                  A total of 432 suspected Cholera cases with no laboratory confirmation and 6 deaths (CFR 1.39%) were reported. 26 LGAs in 10 States have reported at least 1 case of suspected cholera since the beginning of 2012.
                  1095 suspected Cerebral Spinal Meningitis (CSM) cases, 13 laboratory confirmed and 60 deaths (CFR 5.48%) were reported between weeks 1 ? 41 and a total of 938 suspected Lassa fever cases, 149 Laboratory confirmed and 96 deaths (CFR 9.97%) were reported from 42 LGAs in 23 States.
