Table epidemiology of influenza in the country is stable

Luanda - The epidemiological situation of influenza A (H1N1) in Angola remains stable, no new cases, maintaining the cumulative total of 37 registered until November of 2009, said Tuesday in Luanda, a spokeswoman for the meeting of the Interministerial Commission on the pandemic, Adelaide de Carvalho.

Speaking to the press after a meeting over the respective committee, Adelaide de Carvalho said the levels of surveillance in the country remain high, while health authorities are working to prevent and eventually stop new cases.

As for cases of rabies bite, records account for the occurrence of 85 cases in the province of Benguela and one in the city of Namibe. There was no case of death.

Since the beginning of the pandemic influenza A H1N1 and until June 27, 2010 were reported globally 18 000 24 deaths.

The active transmission of pandemic influenza remains in localized areas of the tropics, particularly in South and Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and West Africa.
