ALGIERS- The cumulative number of confirmed cases of A/H1N1 influenza has reached 389 cases including 16 deaths, the secretary general of the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, announced on Wednesday.

A total of "389 confirmed swine flu cases, including 16 deaths, have been identified through 33 provinces since the first confirmed case last 20th June," Abdeslam Chakou told a news conference.
"Among the confirmed cases, 102 are children," he added, while recalling that pregnant women are most affected by the A/H1N1 virus due to their weak immune system.

He then recalled hygiene rules that can reduce the risk of transmission of this virus, which is "100 times stronger than that of seasonal influenza."
