Swine flu: a new fatal case in Oran

ALGIERS- Health Ministry reported Monday in a statement the death of a young woman, aged 32, pregnant, hospitalized in Oran and confirmed A/H1N1 influenza virus positive dated December 1, 2009.

The ministry recalled that she had given birth to a baby who was under antibiotics and whose state of health is satisfactory. According the same source, the number of confirmed deaths of A/H1N1 influenza is, to date, 10, recalling a ninth death of a Setif young man, aged 26, was confirmed last Friday.

Three other deaths are under investigation to see if there is a possible causal relationship with the H1N1 virus, the statement added.

The ministry also states that pregnant women are particularly described as vulnerable because of their weakened immune system by pregnancy.

The ministry said that the observance of certain rules of hygiene can reduce the risk of transmission of influenza viruses. This regular and frequent hand washing with liquid soap, preferably several times per day including returning home and before every meal, use of Kleenex to blow his nose, sneeze or cough.

The Ministry of Health calls, finally, any person experiencing a high fever, cough, body aches, extreme fatigue, to call the hotline 3030 (free call) or visit the nearest health centre adding that additional information on this disease are provided on the website www.sante.dz
